I know this is dull but can we talk about slippers?

I need to wear slippers indoors. I can't stand having bare feet especially when it's cold.
I also like to be able to pop outside to take the bins out etc. so soles are important.
This time last year I bought these emu ones
I got them for just over half price but still pretty pricey for slippers.
They were fab to start with but quickly looked scruffy and now the entire sole has worn through so I don't think I'll be getting any more of them.

Any good suggestions?

EverythingUnderControl · 23/10/2013 20:40

I like Padders slippers.

notwoo · 23/10/2013 21:39

Thanks for all the suggestions - good to see so many other slipper fans! I really like the snugs ones thanks jamais

Have to say I'm disappointed that the Emu's didn't last longer. It's not like I've been pounding the pavement in them! Just goes to show how much running around I do at home I suppose Grin

Primark fake uggs are a fiver and have thick soles, as they are outside boots. So they would last ages as slippers.

Gillybobs · 23/10/2013 21:45

I love my moshulu slippers, I buy the ballet pump style in animal print, they are fab as they appear to be shoes, have a rubber sole for popping outside etc.

Google Swedish Shepherd slippers. Bloody amazing! I go outdoors in them all the time and wear them 80% of the time indoors too (sahm). Pricey at £50 but worth every penny

I get the bog standard fluffy marks mules every year

NotALemon · 24/10/2013 18:34

I bought these granny slippers that look kind of Ugg like from M&S for 15 squid, they're comfy and have a really sturdy sole, I've worn them for most of my maternity leave (even to the shops once, oops!) and no sign of wear so far!

We like the thick felt slippers from www.joestoes.co.uk they do them as kits or ready made, and the soles range from plain felt to Vibram. Smile

NeveroddoreveN · 18/11/2013 23:58

I have had these for about 5 years (were on sale in Fenwicks at the time!) as I need backs too. They have a proper rubber sole, which is grippy enough and hard enough to use indoor and outdoor www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=homeys%20slippers&sprefix=homeys+%2Caps%2C209&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahomeys%20slippers

piratecat · 19/11/2013 00:20

i bought some golddigger (tacky i know) ugg style boots from good old sports direct for indoor use.
would never go back to an overpriced slipper these are so warm.
twenty quid. fairly supportive with my insoles in as i have arch probs.
good inbetween price really.

BobblesAndClips · 19/11/2013 04:17

I've got these from John Lewis, I've had them a year and they look pretty much the same as when I got them, I love them

ChishandFips33 · 19/11/2013 05:09

Haven't been able to fault good old M&S so far. Had these for about 3 yrs now, worn daily, in and out to the bin etc. Toasty warm and extremely comfy - and washable!

I have these UGG slippers and they would fit all your criteria. Love them

MadameOvary · 19/11/2013 10:58

You can get a faux-sheepskin pair and put a real sheepskin insole inside.

EldritchCleavage · 19/11/2013 11:06

I've got these, just starting to wear out after about 6 years. I think I will replace them with a bright pink pair this time.

The fat cork sole helps keep your feet warm and there is a proper sole so popping out to the dustbin or whatever is no problem.

EldritchCleavage · 19/11/2013 11:07

Actually no, those are DH's, Ive got these ones with a back on them. Cheaper here, too!

EldritchCleavage · 19/11/2013 11:11

Sheepskin ones!.
Backing off now before I frighten you with my Haflinger frenzy. I don't work for them honestly, I'm just procrastinating here instead of working.

Corygal · 19/11/2013 11:33

Swedish Shepherds are half price in TK Maxx at the mo! That's 25 quid for the soft, thick shearling and the outdoor sole. Ankle boot style that you can roll down or up.

Blissikins. Quite rare that they ever go on sale, to boot.

ShoeLover123 · 19/11/2013 14:00

How about The Cuddler?

EyeOfNewtBigtoesOfFrog · 19/11/2013 14:59

I can't stand having cold ankles, I need warm woolly socks for around the house. But I don't like ones with soles because they get dirty (treading on DC spilt food etc) and are then not so easy to wash.

So my solution is loads of pairs of thick woolly house socks, plus I keep DP's extra large crocs by the front door for trips to the bin etc.

Stokey · 04/12/2013 20:03

notwoo just came on for the same reason as you. Emu slippers that i bought last winter are falling apart and all the sheepskin has gone. Am going to get some Uggs in the sales I think. Hope your feet are toasty now, and stay clear of Emu ladies!
