Can anyone recommend a toothpaste or over the counter product for getting white teeth? I am not talking scary Holywood white but just a bit less yellow.....years of tea and red wine drinking taken its toil [embarrassed]

Thanks!!

there's one I use called Dentivit. it doesn't taste very nice but I find it really works. Don't use it every day though, once or twice a week twoce a day is enough to start seeing a difference, as it's quite abrasive and could damage your tooth enamel if over used. between uses of that, I use any whitening toothpaste to keep stains at bay

I got this from Pinterest. I teaspoon hydrogen peroxide mixed with 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda add but of toothpaste and brush teeth with it! Do it once a week until you're happy with colour then once a month to maintain! Seems to work but doesn't taste great but dirt cheap!

Weeditandreap · 22/10/2013 23:38

kateecass, that sounds interesting- where do you buy hydrogen peroxide from?

GatoradeMeBitch · 22/10/2013 23:48

You can buy hydrogen peroxide from amazon, in different strengths. Hydrogen peroxide is the main ingredient in most teeth whiteners I think. Apparently dentists can use 15-35%, but 3% should be fine (and anything over 6% could be dangerous.) Just don't swallow it!

GatoradeMeBitch · 22/10/2013 23:50

OK, I just found that pinterest recipe, 3% is the way to go. Some people even gargle with it as a mouthwash!

Buy Crest Whitening strips - they have different kits for long term, or more intense whitening.

I bought hydrogen peroxide from the chemist. Lloyd's I think.

Eucryl Smokers Tooth Powder.

It's been around since the year dot, costs about £1.50 (I get it for £1) and actually works brilliantly.

I buy Pearl Drops - which you can get in pound shops. A brush with this every few days keeps my teeth free of red wine and coffee stains.

Oil pulling.

Baking soda etc can break down enamel over time so the most gentle and effective way to whiten your teeth is to oil pull.

Iam like Miss Martha , think eucryl is the best . Must be good or it would not have been going so long ..
