Landsend sizing - does it come up big or small?

I'm not sure if I'm a ten or twelve as I have a bit of a spare tyre.

The sizing is massive even allowing for the size conversion. The size small in coats which supposedly equates to a uk 10/12 is vast in my experience and rules me out of wearing their coats.
