Christmas ball help

Rubes27 · 21/10/2013 19:25

Ok so, for the first time in 4 years of being with OH we are attending his regiment Christmas ball, it always seems that we miss it because of being deployed or me being very heavily pregnant ect ect ect!
Anyway - this year is my first time and I'm in a panic about my dress!! I've asked what everyone else wears and his reply? "Dresses"
after 4 weeks of asking I've got that the dress code is "cocktail dresses on the knee or below"
Do I need a certain colour? Do my shoulders need to covered? Am I aloud (a little bit) cleavage???
HELP!
Any links to appropriate dresses will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

It all sounds lovely!! What is your budget and body shape? What do you like about your body and is there anything you would like to disguise? Do you need shoes etc.

It's a Christmas military ball - my guess is that there will be more than a little cleavage on show Grin

Avoid Coast!!!! Usually 90% of people are wearing dresses from there.

I would check with your DH how strictly regimental rules are adhered to.
Some do's require shoulders covered- a wrap is a good insurance plan but if it is a ball rather than a formal dinner I reckon things are more informal and more 'party style'. Any colour of dress is usually allowed and cleavage is fine as long as not too much! Budget, shape??

House of Fraser is your friend.. size? , budget? and what colours do you like? Do you want sleeves or not?

Thanks for your help!
Any colour is fine although I think I want black? And I think I want midi length not max as I'm quite short and always feel small and chubby in a maxi! I also want something quite fitted as I'm not really a "floaty" person! Size 10, and don't really have a set budget - I wouldn't want to spend anymore than £150 at a maximum! I also need shoes and accessories! Although i could spend a little extra for them Wink

You could rent one from girlmeetsdress.co.uk. No Coast dresses there.

very slightly over but it always gets votes here

I love the Eliza J dress I posted above
and the Linea cream and black ..

I've looked at girl meets dress but I can't decide on how dressy I need to be! I like the linea cream and black and also the one you just posted! I also like most of the ted baker dresses on their website but are they abit too plain and office-y
