Outfit help please

Hi

I'm going round in circles trying to find something nice to wear to my DH's 40th party in a few weeks time - it also needs to double up for Christmas work do.
I want something not too overly dressy as both are quite informal occasions.
I am brunette, curvy, size 16/18 - with a problem tummy area.
I have some lovely black heeled boots (just below knee) which I have hardly worn and would love to wear with black opaques maybe.
My style is pretty all over the place at the moment.
I love blazers/jackets and quite plain clothes that I can accessorise, I wear a lot of black.
I like this dress.
And love this jacket but I'm not sure if they would go together.

Any suggestions - I could really do with some help.
I'm also on quite a tight budget.

I love the dress, but I'm not sure you need a jacket with it?

The dress sleeves are wider than those of the jacket so could be a tricky fit. How about a draped shawl over your arms & shoulder to show off the sleeves

Thanks pumpkin - you are probably right.
I'm just so used to wearing a little jacket/cardigan over everything I cant imagine not wearing one.
I may get it anyway just to try.
