Sale only, that's my new rule now.

shopafrolic · 20/10/2013 21:02

Did any of you pick up on my comment yesterday that a button has already fallen off my Chloe coat? Is that just the norm nowadays? I can't usually afford a coat of that ££££ and am a bit surprised TBH.

shop sorry I missed that bit, your house is really gorgeous, and from the pictures I've seen, its really one of those homes that has a very cozy and inviting feel to it,don't let it effect you,
And regarding your coat,no I don't think it's the norm for a button to fall off a coat you wore a handful of times,I would be not impressed,
ani sorry,I'm late,I love live shopping,I like the darker wash,Im between sizes,its a nightmare !

novice glad you enjoyed your day,its nice to see, family,I was in tears this evening when I said my goodbyes to my parents, the look on my dad's face was just so Sad,

dry I love the miu miu clutch, I've had it for over 3 years now,yes go with black, its the safest color,

BrandyAlexander · 20/10/2013 21:25

Yes Shop, very happy. For various reasons, for the last few years, family get togethers inevitably involve some fall outs or tension or stress. Not today. We were actually there to discuss a serious topic - mum loves calling family meetingsHmm- and so no children or spouses to distract us. The comments were zinging back and forth and i haven't laughed so hard like that in a very long time.

The button off the coat thing is appalling. My dry cleaner says he us appalled by the quality of my Armani jacket. Bought for £650 and falling apart in 8 months. It's not like I have worn it that much either!. I am about to complain to Selfridges because that's very poor. Can you do the same?

mignonnette · 20/10/2013 21:26

Shop do you remember my posting about an article in US Vogue by Plum Sykes about that very same problem of spending ££££ on clothing onyl to have buttons fall off in days?

I cannot link to the article but she was super pissed off about it too. All you can do is take to dressmaker and have them stitched really tight if you don't want to do yourself. Plum had a hell of a job finding replacement buttons for a Stella coat and a Balenciaga coat costing thous.

shopafrolic · 20/10/2013 21:31

I don't know that the Outnet would listen? Might give it a try. Only the 4th time of wearing.......
Yes Mig I do remember now. The frustration with the coat is the thread colour is a pig to match. Perhaps I will email the Outnet.

Poor you Santa. Thanks for you too.

I have a couple of home decor questions. New house has very high ceilings and big rooms. Dmil says that cream walls and carpets (like in current house which is modern) (won't go well and I need colour in it. The sitting room/lounge is currently a burgundy colour. She and dh love it. But not me. She's really smart at this stuff. Is she right?

Second question is I really want to decorate dd's room in pink and purple and do a hello kitty theme. However, now that she and ds want to share I can't do that (I would do his as Thomas the tank engine theme). What would you do? Current option is find another theme that's neutral but neither loves as much (eg I could do Disney but he doesn't really know the characters or, Fireman Sam which they both like but not love), or, go ahead decorate her room but decorate his room, but then he would still sleep in her room even if he kept his clothes etc in his own room. Aaargh!

shopafrolic · 20/10/2013 21:48

We have high ceilings in our lounge and have decorated in neutral tones. It keeps the room feeling large. It depends whether you're trying to make the rooms feel more cosy and enclosed, in which case colour and pattern will draw the walls in a bit more I think.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 20/10/2013 21:48

Could you not just paint it neutral and unisex curtains and then get them their preferred themes for bedding, lamps etc. it's easier that way anyway when they go off the theme.

Wrt colour it's difficult to say without seeing the house but I do personally like a bit. A lot of our walls are cream but I have colours in other ways. When we finally get round to painting the dining room I'm tempted to go for purple as it's very high ceilings and majestic.

shop I wouldn't be impressed if I'd spent 20 quid on a coat and the buttons fell off after 4 wears let alone whatever you paid. If the outnet's not interested could you contact someone at Chloe.

dry must go to bed so purposefully not looking yet at your links!

Drywhiteplease · 20/10/2013 21:56

Novice I'd decorate individual rooms. DS can "sleep over" when he wants. He might love his Thomas room so much he'll want to sleep in it all the time and he'll probably grow out of wanting to share soon (or his sister will kick him out !)
I love cream rooms.........but Edwardian houses can take strong colour too. I love choosing colour schemes and doing a room up.

shopafrolic · 20/10/2013 21:57

cheapies for Marsha

OP posts:
mignonnette · 20/10/2013 22:08

Novice I'd go for light coloured walls for the children's room and frame some posters and pictures of Thomas/Kitty. Loads of rugs and accessories in colours that can be moved into their separate rooms when they are ready.

There is a new book out on children's rooms that looks charming w/ loads of cute ideas. Think it was featured in last weeks telegraph magazine.

OneLittleLady · 20/10/2013 22:18

Novice I'd also go for decorating them individual rooms but let them 'share' whichever room they chose to stay in. They will soon grow out of sharing and I think it's important to let them both retain some individuality even if they end up between rooms most of the time. That's just my two pence and I might be wrong but that's the approach I'd take.

I feel really good today, no special reason why that I can think of, I just feel happy with myself for once Smile

Drywhiteplease · 20/10/2013 22:27

Good one One long may it continue.Smile

BrandyAlexander · 20/10/2013 22:31

Thank you, good ideas there. Thanks Will do some more head scratching!

Good to hear One. Here's to happy daysWine

shopafrolic · 20/10/2013 22:38
