Another leggings question

I bought my daughter a pair of the shiny River Island leggings (she loves them, I hate them) - they do look great on her BUT - there's no elastic in the waistband, its just the same stretchy fabric. As a result they keep sliding down. I put a dart in them but it didn't help, they still sag down.
Can anyone suggest any other way to make them stay up, please? They were a bit expensive as leggings go, so I'd like her to get some wear out of them. TIA!

Add an elasticated waistband Smile. You'll need a ballpoint needle for your sewing machine if you want to do it yourself, but an alterations shop shouldn't charge you much to do it instead.

PS - if doing it yourself, don't forget to use a zig-zag stitch so the fabric can still stretch!

You could also just sew a thick strip of elastic to the inside of the waistband (top and bottom) if you don't want to go to the trouble of making a casing, but the finish won't be as smooth.
