Do I "need" long black boots?

I don't have any. Are these a wardrobe staple?
I've found somewhere that has some beauties in the sale but not sure if knee-highs are O.V.E.R and it's all about the ankle boots now.

Would it be a good investment?

I can only think ill have reason to wear them at a winter funeral or if I ever get a desk job again.

If you don't think you'll wear them then no you don't "need" them, get something else instead that you can imagine yourself wearing often :)

I see your point.

I guess I've had a few occasions over the years where I wished I had some.
I survived though!

There is no such thing as a wardrobe staple . Black boots are often really dull.

UterusUterusGhali · 15/10/2013 08:58

The alternative would be my brown boots, bonsoir. I can't imagine you approving of those at all!

I have black bikers. Not really suitable for the office/graveside.

(I don't know anyone ill and wear scrubs for work ffs. I should save my money right?!)

If you haven't got an office or funeral on the horizon, then yes, save your money and look for something more fun!

ElizabethBathory · 15/10/2013 09:05

If you don't want any and don't think you'll wear them, then no... I don't have any. I don't have a 'crisp white shirt' either!

I live in slimline black and brown knee high boots in winter, but then I have a lengthy commute (walking + train) and boots are a fuckload more stylish than other options. Often change when I get to work but really smart boots are great.

FrancesFarmer · 15/10/2013 09:24

You don't sound very enthusiastic about them and it doesn't sound like you'll wear them lots so I would say no, in your case.

I love boots for winter and bought last years version of these in the summer sales to replace an old pair i had worn to bits. They look good with jeans and dresses. And make me feel a million dollars. I have ankle boots too but when it's freezing there's nothing like thermal socks and long boots. And I don't have an office job or funerals on the horizon.

I cant imagine not having a good pair of long black boots in my wardrobe - go with everything! - but I suppose it does depend completely on what you wear. I prefer over-the-knees to knee boots. Bit more current. I'm talking flat, though....not thigh high Dominatrix stylee (although I do own a pair of those, too Grin)

moondog · 15/10/2013 13:47

Over the knee eh?
Crikey, I'd get some odd looks if I went to work in an over the knee look. Grin
Maybe ok if you do something groovy and creative.

MerrilyMoo · 15/10/2013 20:26

No! Not at all. Mine are flat and quite conservative. I wear them with thick tights and dresses or skinnies and a longish top. I'm not channelling Kim Kardashian I promise Grin
