Coat somewhere between a Parka and a Puffer?

I want NEEEEED a new winter coat and fancy something somewhere between a puffer and a parka? Live in Scotland so it needs to be WARM.

I'd like it to be slightly fitted at the waist, otherwise I look a bit all over podgy when I am quite fond of my waist...
I'm a size 12/14 but DH has instilled a need in me to buy coats a size up.

I have a blue and a purple coat, was thinking maybe a charcoally grey but worried I'll look like I've borrowed DD's school coat? Blush

Anyone got any links for suggestions? Smile

I got a Jack Wolfskin coat that ticks your boxes. I got it in grey. It goes with everything. It has got lots of compliments already. So lightweight but so warm. On phone now so cant link but will try to come back later to link for you.

I got a craghoppers insulated parka that I'm loving. it's dark khaki and fitted at the waist. I'm in Scotland too and it seems pretty warm so far. I think it was called the craghoppers ikoku herringbone parka if you want to look, can't link as on phone. I got it from Debenhams. Smile Smile

I got one last year in (whispers) M&S, of all places. It's not the most stylish thing I've ever seen but it is puffy and padded and warm and has a belt to nip it in at the waist. It was cheap too. It got me through all of the snow feeling toasty warm. This is similar. It's probably going to be described as 'mumsy' by most of MN, but so what - a) I'm a mum and b) I'm a warm mum! :)

Jack Wolfskin link.
On that site it says it is brown. I think they got that wrong though. Mine IRL says grey on the label and it looks identical to that one in the picture. I do know that they are also available, if not on this website, in other colours like black, brown, green etc. What I'm trying to say is don't let the fact that it says brown under that picture put you off. It's free delivery & returns anyway if it doesn't suit. I'm 12-14 and a medium fits me snugly. Nice shaping at the back without being a belt like all the other puffas.

I tried on a waterproof down Jack Wolfskin a few weeks ago. Think it was this one but they have a few options
