Yes! I am going to Buckingham Palace - tad excited, will be on my best behaviour BUT I need a dress so please could I have some help :)

I'm about a size 10 5'3'', don't like having arms or legs on show so would either have to wear a cardi or have long-sleeves. Also, don't like clingy or red. So aside from those demands I'm open to trying things (places which have free post returns wuld be good as I'd probably need ot buy lots and try on then return)

I'm just goign to go to the shops and try on some things but thanks for any links for when I get back

OP... I had to do The Palace when 8 months pg!

I found hiring stuff gave me the best value for money. It cost me about £80 for a dress, hat and gloves.

One of the perks is being able to use the British Empire Chapel in St Paul's Cathedral for christenings, weddings and so on. We had a child of ours christened there (outs self a bit as well) and it was amazing!

I think you get a big bling medal and a little modest pin on one in the same box, if I remember correctly.

thenightsky What did you end up wearing/hiring?

BoffinMum you don't if you get a knighthood! Only an OBE or MBE can't remember which one or if it's both

That's a bit crap! Do they let you use upstairs instead, i.e. the main cathedral!

Molly I had a blue and white silk drop waisted dress with a big bow on one hip (very trendy at the time - 1991). White court shoes, white hat with ribbon trim and white gloves. I recall I ended up not wearing the gloves as it was a blisteringly hot day.
