Want either a nightdress or PJs. Usually get White Company but can't afford them right now. Everything else (eg M&S) is so ugly that it makes me want to weep. I like grey, or black, or maybe white, or maybe mauve or something. I like natural fibres. I hate teddy bears, 'cheeky' slogans or indeed anything that suggests I might be 11 years old. I don't want anything old ladyish.

Help please. I'm doomed, aren't I?

This? Or does it have to be 100% cotton?

duckyfuzz · 11/10/2013 21:26

There must be a 20% off at white company around somewhere, would that help?

duckyfuzz · 11/10/2013 21:27

I like this

AngryFeet · 11/10/2013 21:28

100% cotton

AngryFeet · 11/10/2013 21:29

Or this

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 11/10/2013 21:29

bhs?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/10/2013 21:29

Plain dresses is a BRILLIANT idea. That is what I'm going to do. Thank you!

Penguin one is absolutely what I don't want. Polka dot one is nice but expensive. I'm going to go to H&M or Topshop for t-shirt dresses. Can't believe I didn't think of that before.

God I love MN.

watching with interest

duckyfuzz · 11/10/2013 21:30

Lol penguin is hideous, just testing!

I have a couple of £4.50 nighties from Primark. Well I think they're nice...Blush I'll get me coat.

mellicauli · 11/10/2013 21:39

Cyberjammies are really beautifully made and excellent quality. And cheap on Amazon.

What about these nice grey ones coupled with a cheap black top

NoComet · 11/10/2013 21:49

I used a too pink and too flowery summer dress for years as a child, far cooler and more comfortable than the stuffy late 70's nighties.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 11/10/2013 21:56

Oh, this is an easy one!

  1. List your favourite 3 bands

  2. Buy a T-shirt for each in XXXXXXL

  3. Sleep in said T-shirt.

Sorted.

This can be expensive if you're a purist and insist on genuine gig merchandise for each one, but that's entirely optional.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/10/2013 22:06

:)

That'll be The Smiths, The Jesus and Marychain and The Wedding Present then. Gutted that I got rid of all my gig t-shirts. :(

The stripey M&S one is dull but inoffensive, I guess. The other two (imvho) are awful.

tkmaxx often have nice nightwear, sadly they don't have any (that I can find anyhow) on their website, but they might be worth a look.

I go for the cheap cotton bottoms and a tshirt option-all my tour tshirts are packed away, except for a mega city four one that still gets an airing once in a while. I now stick to dangermouse/batfink/muppets/snoopy [classy]

SorrelForbes · 12/10/2013 07:39

What about this? Too much?

wiltingfast · 12/10/2013 08:58

There's not a whole lot of difference between the stripey M&S one and the pricey Whites one! Imvho!!

Personally I always find t shirts too short. I keep an eye on M&S and TK Maxx and buy when they have something that is tolerable it' not easy admittedly...

Quangle · 12/10/2013 09:36

My requirements are:

Cotton jersey
Below knee
Slight sleeve - just enough to cover shoulders
No Winnie the Pooh cute pictures
No sprig designs, frilled cuffs, smocking or anything else that looks like a costume from Lark Rise to Candleford.

Slightly attractive ( can't ask for very attractive as that does not exist in nature)

This is like searching for the holy grail. Mamas and Papas did a good one which, although maternity, was fine because it was jersey so I'm still wearing it. That baby is seven today Shock. And anyway M&P no longer make that design. I might find another one if I look for another seven years.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/10/2013 14:59

Christ on a bike re that baby doll one.

I bought a v v boring one today in the M&S sale for £4. It's not v nice but the fact that it was so cheap was a key selling point.

I went to Debenhams, Gap, M&S, BHS and even Primark and disliked just about everything. I'm clearly overthinking this.

Have you looked at landsend?

Or this one, or is it too flowery?

gindrinker · 12/10/2013 16:49

Tkmaxx. Find night wear section. Rummage. Jobs a good 'un.
Or mens primark?
