Gatsby party

I'm going to a Gatsby themed party in a couple of weeks and I don't know what to wear! I'm short and thin, so flapper style/dropped waist things just hang off me and make me look like a sack. I'm also pale, so neutral colours make me look like a ghost.

I have a dress like this but in gold (sorry, I can't find a link to the gold one...) and they've specified glamour, so even though it isn't particularly 20s I was wondering if that would be ok with a fake fur wrap and a headband?

(I'm also poor, so am trying not to spend too much!)

What do you think? Yay or nay? Other options?

Also, what would you do in terms of shoes?

Bumping Smile

This is the same as my dress - it's not that exact one but it's pretty much identical.

Hm. Are you sure the dropped waist thing doesn't suit you? Because tbh they do work best on the thin! That was the whole 20s thing - being thin with no boobs...

Not sure about the existing dress. It seems more 80s but I reckon as long as you shove on a hairband of some ilk you won't get stopped at the door Wink

What about this dress in either the black or coral

with this chain

and

gold T-bar shoes?

You could prob get cheaper shoes but you get the idea.

I'm pretty sure - I'm short too so they're always a bit of a funny fit. The dress you linked to is nice but tbh I would never wear it again - I'm happy to buy something new but only if I will be able to wear it more than one night.

Are either of these better? Though I still wouldn't wear them much really New Look or backless and I wouldn't know what to do about a bra on that second one...

(Also I could do with an excuse to wear the existing dress which has only been worn twice...)

I went a Gatsby party recently and went as a man. Bow tie, brogues, nice pair of trousers, crisp shirt and a blazer - most of which I already owned. I was so comfy and it was much cheaper than buyer a brand new dress Smile. And I managed to find a hat from a charity shop and some braces to complete the look.

I don't know, I am quite looking forward to getting glammed up, so might feel a bit cheated if I go as a man. Thank you though Smile

I like both of those black options Lucy. The second one in particular is great but there is of course the bra dilemma...

And the freezing cold issue, now the weather has turned so horrible!

I'm not sure about the sizing either, I'm a 6 and the New Look only starts in an 8, and the backless one in a s/m...

Any other suggestions?

This? I'd be more likely to wear it again, too.
