dark circles - no puffiness, help!!

I always have very dark circles under my eyes - not bags, they're totally flat, just purple... Sad

I look ok for about 15 minutes after my makeup goes on then they start shining through. And god help me if I am actually tired.

I think it's partly because I have very very pale, thin skin (I have very visible veins elsewhere on my body).

What can I do?!

Sadly they'll never completely go away. My eye area is dark too but no puffiness either. With age I've noticed it's more prominent. Thinning of the skin would explain the visible veins. But my veins have always been visible near my eyes.

mine is genetic I reckon and sounds like yours are too.

I know things that help

Lots of sleep
a rich eye cream With SPF or a face moisturiser with added SPF. I like clinique rich eyes cream. It a bit dear though so I don't always get it.

Don't fall for the miracles all the eye creams claim they can produce. I've tried some it's just money down the drain. you don't actually need a separate eye cream a good face cream will do. But a lot of women like another cream to layer over.

Cucumber slices or cold tea bags over the eyes once a week helps.

Cut back on caffeine and alcohol dehydrates your skin drink lots more.

use make up if all else fails, try not to let it bother you, concentrate on the rest of your gorgeous self. That's what I say to myself lool

My eye shadow/circles get much darker if I don't drink enough water.

Try drinking more?

Urgh this is me too. I permanently look like my mascara has rubbed under my eyes. I find upping my iron intake helps a bit. But like you I just have really pale thin skin I think.

Bexicles · 10/10/2013 20:13

Same here, just marking place.

Mine are pretty grim - I'm also very pale, cool toned so it's very obvious. Recently switched make up a bit, and currently finding that benefit boi-ing shade 01 concealer (applied with a small brush) and estee lauder double wear (in shell) as a foundation is working quite well. I apply the concealer first and then when I am putting the foundation on I let a very thin layer go over the top of the eye bags/concealer.

If necessary I do a very light layer of powder as well (benefit again) and the combination seems to keep it at bay.

I get this too. I'm also very pale/thin skinned. I use collection under eye concealer which helps a bit.

evertonmint · 10/10/2013 21:36

Another sufferer here - pale skin, genetic (5yo DS has them from me -despite getting 12 hours sleep and eating really well for his age!)

I hate using a lot of product because it clings to my little wrinkles making them look worse.

7 hours sleep, eye cream and lots of water is helping a bit. Experimenting with eye make up too - seems to look worse with some colours rather than others.

Have just started Floradix iron supplement to see if that helps as I occasionally teetering on edge of anaemia.

Just have to put up with it though mainly :(

try bareminerals creamy concealer (in flat round package, not tube), is very good, I've tried loads over the years

avoid powder under the eyes or anything illuminating eg touche eclat

valiumredhead · 11/10/2013 14:56

Lily Lilo peepo is great, it's a violent yellow colour that you dab on and suddenly all your blueness has disappeared, and only 7 quid !

Bare minerals is good but is a bit ageing ime if you are at all crepey.

I'm not a huge fan of illuminating concealers but Aldi do a fantastic one.

valiumredhead · 11/10/2013 15:02

Actually ignore that,I didn't realise BM did a creamy concealer I've only ever used the powder one. Is it long lasting?

coffeeinbed · 11/10/2013 15:29

I've given up trying to conceal, treat or worry about them.
Nothing I can do.
So I embraced the smoky eye - well, a bit modified, not too much a la Carine Roitfeld.
Look her photos up.
