How do you dress for Autumn?

I live in a city with a weird climate: very hot summers (regularly 30-35°C) and bitterly cold winters (often < -5°C, sometimes < -15°C!). Autumn and Spring are not just half-way between those extremes, they usually mean cold mornings (20°C)!

I hate the layered look, but am at a loss what else to wear! Add in to that the fact that I spend half my day in cold, draughty lecture theatres and the other half in an over-heated hospital... I am constantly too hot or too cold!

So what the heck should I wear? How does anyone else deal with temperature shifts like this? I can't even wear nice shoes, because they're predicting rain every day for the next 2 weeks... Sad

What is your wardrobe for the current season? And how do you deal with wide temperature shifts?

It's a bit tricky. But I do ankle boots or wedge knee highs, jumper and big wool/cashmere scarf. Take the scarf off when it gets warm.

I'm in London so fairly mild, even weather.
