Would this handbag be wasted on a SAHM?

I'm not normally a handbag fan but saw this in JL yesterday and love it.

Thing is, I spend most of my time between nursery, playgroups, soft play and the park.

I don't get out much without the DCs so wouldn't be worth "saving".

It would be unwise, wouldn't it.

I love this bag too never seen it in rl though. but have seen mixed reviews of it on here which do seem to mainly be down to personal taste. op if you can afford it and love it then why not. I agree with everyone that's told you to go for it Grin

It's gorgeous, great colour. If you love it and think you'll be happy to use it every day, get it! Wouldn't be wasted at all, as long as you don't 'save it for best'. Great shape and v practical.

NoComet · 08/10/2013 12:47

Of course you can have a nice bag.

I don't think anyone has passed a law stating SAHMs can only have PVC bags from Primark.

I hope not or my leather JL one isn't allowed.

And heaven for bid some one suggests SAHM only need trainers and no £100+ long boots are allowed (boots being my guilty pleasure if I get any money).

AngelsWithSilverWings · 08/10/2013 12:54

I'm a SAHM and sometimes it's only my nice handbags that stops me feeling like a complete scruff!

I can't wear lovely shoes because I have to go for comfort above all else due to all the walking I do. I can't wear the kind of coats and jackets I'd like to because of my huge boobs. Ditto dresses and nice tops.

So my handbags are the one thing I can wear that are completely chosen on style and quality.

Go for it.

No point in nice long coats the style I like as I spend my life jumping in and out of cars and going in and out if warm buildings, no cold bus stops or windy train stations. A lovely long fitted coat is a total waste.

JohnSnowsTie · 08/10/2013 13:24

Thanks for the responses all. I will have to consider the handles as my pushchair doesn't have the sort of handle you can hang a bag on.

Otherwise, it's the approximate style and colour (I really seem to suit grey) that I like so if anyone knows of any similar, do let me know. £225 is definitely a flog other stuff on eBay first/long-term save up job!

If it's a 'flog other stuff/long term save' type thing I wouldn't, not for the sort of use it's going to get right now. You probably wont feel happy leaving it lying around at toddler groups/park/soft play etc. It will get very very 'worn' being in those places too. So it's not really practical is it? Which is fine if it's a 'No big deal I'll replace it next year' but if it's a 'Big Save' then I wouldn't at the minute and I'd save up for one when the kids are a bit older.

However, I don't 'covet' handbags so what do I know Grin

Can't believe I am posting in a style and beauty thread, probably be slated for it but here goes anyway! For the poster who wanted a two compartment bag this one at a fraction of the one in the OP is, in my opinion, lovely and smart and versatile.

PetiteMum · 08/10/2013 20:28

I've seen those pippa bags at tkmaxx for 90 quid! Worth investigating if you have your heart set on it....

Carolmillen · 08/10/2013 21:30

It's a lovely bag. I couldn't justify it to myself as a SAHM but now I work, I couldn't justify it on the basis that it's just a work bag either!

Don't buy it to 'save it' as styles go out of fashion. Buy it if you will be happy to use every day.

Roshbegosh · 08/10/2013 21:34

I have one and it does weigh a tonne. You also have to remember which compartment everything is in or you're opening and closing everything. Maybe that's just me!

spacegirl81 · 08/10/2013 22:23

I've recently brought this.
