Netted underskirts, yey or nay?

So I just bought a black medium to heavyweight halter neck tea dress for Xmas party. (Yes I know it's early but was window shopping with dd and was in an independent store near closing and the owner offered me a 30% discount as he had had a slow day).

It is above the knee aprox 3-4 inches with a layer of netting to give the skirt shape and is longer than the skirt length reaching just above the knee. It has a flower pattern so it's 2 tone black.

I am considering a net underskirt to make it fuller for the works Xmas do. Is this in/fashionably quirky or will I look like a twit?

Background I am the only woman in my company and the xmas do is the only time I see the wife's & girlfriends, plus I'm up to 10 years older than the majority, (I'm 34 by Xmas)
