ruby, we have a gym 100m up the road, and I go to itWink

Shred is so last year, Herbs!

Don't talk about cats. There was another eviscerated rodent - just a mouse this time, thank the lawd - in our kitchen this morning. I must confess I bellowed this up to Mr Inferior and legged it to the swimming pool. Very good for the fitness regime, cats. You can avoid all sorts of carnage yet remain smug.

There's a new cat in the 'hood here which has discovered our poor guinea pig out back in her Eglu (we had two, sisters, but one carked it in the summer).

I fear this is a Stupid Cat which has not figured out that even though it can see our Martha, it cannot actually get at her. But it's a tad unsettling for Martha.

Apparently I am a cruel and unfeeling mother and it is all my fault if DD1 gets a late night again.

I made them empty the binsGrinGrinGrin

Hi all, I have been lurking over on the hysterectomy boards but am back now: The Prodigal Crepey

Opinions on this coat please. I am yearning for a red smart coat .
Any other suggestions welcome on this subject .

The fox has been trapped by the farmer in a cage. I haven't asked what happens to it now. can't bear itConfused

Stropperella · 15/10/2013 21:44

Aww, poor old Reynard. It's not looking good for him. Of course, if he'd just popped round and slaughtered my chooks, I'd be somewhat less inclined to be kind. Hmm. That coat looks very nice, Crem. I can imagine you cutting a dash in that.

I'm just back from circuits. I do like chasing a young man round the room and then punching him. Grin BTM, do you have young men to punch at your circuits class? Grin

bigTillyMint · 15/10/2013 21:45

Lovely, Cremo. And at a bargain price!
I have a very bright red corduroy coatSmile

bigTillyMint · 15/10/2013 21:47

Stropps, no young men to punch at, we have a boxing-man punch-bag for that!

Stropperella · 15/10/2013 21:52

LOL - he's not much good at running, though, is he?

Stropperella · 15/10/2013 21:53

We sometimes have static things like that to kick/punch, but usually it's brave young people holding punch bags.

Cremolafoam · 15/10/2013 22:43

Lol at you two running around like CougarsGrin

Tis bargainous isn't it.
May have to build up to a BHS foray.

And now I even sound crepey . Might as well go to Country Casuals while I'm at itConfused

originalpiratematerial · 15/10/2013 22:58

ruby I'm a very ancient poster from yonks ago, I have had a few half-hearted stabs at reintegrating but this is my most successful incarnation as yet.

mi knew who I was straight away but then she has the dubious pleasure of seeing me in RL from time to time, being in receipt of my email witterings, etc.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/10/2013 23:17

Have just met up with a friend I hadn't seen for 25 years. Curry in Brick Lane and then watched the Eid fireworks there. Lots of beautifully dressed women and girls hurrying past, in sad contrast to the underdressed orange teenagers I saw heading off to the Ministry of Sound on the way home. Why don't teenagers here wear coats? You would have thought it was August in Ibiza to see them.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/10/2013 23:18
CointreauVersial · 15/10/2013 23:21

Lovely coat, Crem, will really suit your colouring, but may not be very warm (I have the circulation of a slug, so such things are important).

All this running talk is making me feel guilty - I have somewhat fallen off the wagon recently, and these grotty autumn mornings aren't filling me with much enthusiasm. I have to say, I didnt find it too spendy, apart from the shoes (£85, although the identical replacement pair I bought on eBay a couple of months back were a lot cheaper).

It's supposed to bucket down tomorrow; DS and DD1 are seething because tomorrow's hotly anticipated 10 mile skive off school sponsored walk has been cancelled. DD2 has a school trip to Bough Beech reservoir and water treatment works, so I shall have to remember to dig out wellies and waterproofs.

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2013 06:55

MrsS, have you never been to the Bigg Market?Grin

And Shock at cougars! It's not a bit like that in our circuit training - you would be Grin if you saw us (and there are men doing it too - one looks 30 but is well over 50!!)

The DC are off on Thurs due to the strike - mine are planning all sorts of excitement - what about yours?

lalsy · 16/10/2013 08:17

Very impressed by all this running and exercise. I hurt my knee lying on the sofa Hmm so have only been swimming recently. I think good shoes are really important but perhaps that comes of having dodgy knees.

Shall I buy a Woolover jumper - or two?

Blackduck · 16/10/2013 08:24

Nowt wrong with woolovers Lalsy - as long as you are careful!

MrsS :) - that sounded like my mum..... - you'll get a cold in your kidneys, mark my words!

OldP - would I have known you in a previous incarnation? Been here forever - but not a prolific poster myself (except on these threads)

I am now :( that I haven't met Cremo and thus can't comment on her colouring/suitability for a red coat....

In other news a potential new opportunity has come up here at work - am tempted - need to think about it....

beachyhead · 16/10/2013 08:44

I like that coat, Crem, but not sure how snuggly it will be....

I would love to run (well, not love, but like the idea!), but like Stropps, I have lower back issues, which I think would get jammed by pounding the roads, no matter how good my shoes are....

I would like targeted exercise for the area below my boobs and above my hips, where it is all getting barrelly... Do any Crepey's have any ideas? I do walk up hills 5 times a week, at a puff inducing rate, so not too worried about the basic fitness.

I spotted a wrinkle on my foot yesterday! I looked down and could have sworn I had pop sox on, but no, it was crinkly American tan coloured skin Confused

Liking the sound of the jowl length bob, Herbs.

Stropperella · 16/10/2013 09:57

Beachy, I've now been doing circuits twice a week for 2 years and it has changed the shape of my middle which was tending to squidge before, despite daily walks. Aside from a lot of punching, we do HIT training and a great deal of abs work. I'm very pleased with the returns I get for only 2 hrs work a week. It costs me only £4 per session and the only kit you really need is a decent pair of trainers and a sports bra and whatever clothing you feel comfortable exercising in - oh and boxing gloves. I wear something similar to these My knees are now a lot less dodgy than when I started because I've built the supporting muscle up and my back is only intermittently grumbly.

QueenQueenie · 16/10/2013 10:17

Beachy, have you done or thought about Pilates? Very good for lower back isdues if you have a good teacher. .. and it doesn't make you purple faced which has got to be a bonus!
Thought of you as I booked tickets for Ghosts at the Almeida last night. Are you going? Rave reviews.

motherinferior · 16/10/2013 10:21

I did pilates for years. V much helped me get back into my clothes after DD2, but I still billowed embarrassingly around the gunt. However, it has proved invaluable with running, as I quite deliberately focus on that core area and try and keep upright with it all pulled in. Hence the smaller bra hooks.

I am eyeing the White Company's new knitwear covetously Grin thanks to v generous birthday present from Lovely Friends Grin

Suspect my two will lounge vigorously in PJs tomorrow.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 16/10/2013 10:44

I am really rubbish at pilates - can't seem to get the hang of it at all. I loved the active yoga that my BFF and I did ante and post-natal both times, but have never found anything similar.

I think the circuit training we do helps with re-shaping. I am curiously quite good at the core stuff, less so with anything involving my arms! It's actually very interesting to see how different builds/ages do better with different exercises.

DD seems to be hatching a plan with her friend to go into town this evening to eat (as friend will be sleeping over at ours)Hmm And DS and his mates may be going on a trip to the shops tomorrow!
