Did it!

Hattie and Crem, we've specialised in shouting (fear-based I think) rather than dithering but nearly done now. Step away from the Student Room, that way madness lies. My dd is considering doing a spoof PS when it is all over - I am not sure how anyone will tell it is not real.......

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/11/2013 18:13

BB did not show her face today but emailed me to say she was now on leave for a week. I spoke to the manager of the job she is insisting I do, and they definitely don't want me. They want me for 3 weeks to set things up, which is fine, and then they want someone of a lower grade. They said they made this clear to her from the word go.

I didn't get to see the person in HR today - she was off. I will try again tomorrow. But if they have no more work for me in 3 weeks, I am going to ask to move. This is just a joke.

Had a lovely bitchfest about BB with a couple of the women in the office, who have also complained about her, and said it is definitely her, and not me.

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/11/2013 18:14

And I am ringing the doctor tomorrow.

bigTillyMint · 07/11/2013 18:31

Good, MrsS!

I think I am the only relatively OK one in our house ATM - DH is complaining about feeling very tired (but still planning to go out drinking tomorrow), DD has teenage-girl-friendship woes as well as GCSE blues and DS is in trouble again - teenage lack of thinking skillsSad

Auriga · 07/11/2013 19:02

DM is cooking. She professed to want to do this once a week.

Do you want the potatoes peeled?
Is this enough carrots?
What time shall I put the veg on? Shall I put the veg on now? ( x n)
Is it ok if I fry the salmon? is this the right pan?
Will I use this (extra virgin olive oil) for frying?
Do you think these are done?

Meanwhile she continues to offer me advice on how to organise the kitchen and tips on the secret of doing things right.

I know, I know, she's lost confidence. I should just help and shut up about it. Why is it driving me up the wall?

MrsS, sounds awful. Horrible start. Sorry she has upset you so much.

CointreauVersial · 07/11/2013 20:23

Teenage lack of thinking skills.Grin Grin See also teenage lack of listening skills and teenage oblivious to mess skills.

BTM - hope your DH is looking after himself, what with recent fainting and now tiredness....

We are sitting waiting for Sarah M to appear on stage. We arrived very early so I have already downed two G&Ts and a bag of Maltesers. And Richard E Grant is sat in front of us.

CointreauVersial · 07/11/2013 20:30

Ooh, and Josie Lawrence just came and sat next to him!

bigTillyMint · 07/11/2013 20:43

Josie Lawrence was the godmother of a child I once taught and came to the show she was in at schoolSmile 2 G&T's and a bag of malteesers sounds a good start!

Auriga, I have no idea how you can cope with living with your DM, never mind "helping" her with the cooking!

Am a bit worried about DH - he is usually quite laid back but seems rather snappy of lateConfused

herbaceous · 07/11/2013 21:11

I have a possible physical complaint. For the past few weeks, I just have not felt hungry. I can eat OK when I get round to it, but don't get that growling tummy before mealtimes. I'm also very thirsty. And sometimes get waves of nausea. What's that all about?

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/11/2013 22:18

Diabetes? Don't ask me, I vomit regularly, no idea why. (Not that you would think it to look at the size of me.)

Cremolafoam · 07/11/2013 22:26

Oh herbs get thee to a gp as well.
As the resident crepey diabetic I wouldn't necessarily say that's what it was, but worth looking into. If you are feeling dog tired and waking up parched those would be the main signs.
Sad

beachyhead · 07/11/2013 22:27

Oooh CV, can you touch Richard E Grant for me please? Envy

QueenQueenie · 07/11/2013 22:43

Beachy, was that you at Kings Place this evening, listening to the Brodsky Quartet...?

beachyhead · 07/11/2013 22:58

No, tonight I'm at home and just back from seeing Philomena, which was excellent.

Getting geared up for a fireworks party on Saturday, so the fridge is full of manky hot dogs for kids and naice ham and cheese for grown ups Grin

QueenQueenie · 07/11/2013 23:38

Well there was a woman there who looked very like you (and also very alarmed that I kept making eye contact and smiling encouragingly at her)!

CointreauVersial · 08/11/2013 00:27

Beachy, you'll be pleased to know I trod on Richard E Grant's toe on the way out.

Sarah Millican was very amusing, and not a little rude. The DCs were all still alive when we got back, despite an hour to themselves early evening.

Blackduck · 08/11/2013 04:35

To the gps the lot of you!!

On the teenage thing was listening to the radio the other morning and they were talking about doing 'good deeds' (apparently the average is 45 a month) such as holding doors open, giving up seats etc. and then as examples they said 'picking up something someone has dropped' and 'giving lifts unasked' to which someone said 'isn't that called being a parent'?

TGIF - loooong week sans dp. But I have tonight and Sunday to myself - just me and the farty dog ;)

beachyhead · 08/11/2013 08:02

Herbs and Mrs S - I think you both need to go and be checked out.

QQ - I am constantly being told I look like someone else, at least 10/12 times a year I am mistaken for someone else. It's happened all my life! When I first came to London, I was regularly called 'Mouse' by people I met, because apparently I was the spit of a girl called Mouse. I never met her, but so many people mistook me for her, that there must have been a striking resemblance.

It happens so much that I now realise I must have 'Standard Face No: 1276' or something Smile.

Useful if I ever want to go undercover or something!

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2013 08:16

Ha ha, Beachy - I have never been mistaken for someone else. Although people regularly used to think I was DD's BF's mumConfused!

Yes, GP's visit for those suffering! DH seemed a little less tired this morning, in time for his boys night out tonight, no doubtHmm
DS has been told to be on his best behaviour todayHmmHmm
And DD is soldiering in...

motherinferior · 08/11/2013 08:36

DP works at King's Place As, occasionally, do two exes of mine. Wonder if they've all been in a lift together.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 08/11/2013 08:38

oh god just realised how boastily femme-fatalish that sounds. As if. Yeah, right. Actually my Lurve Record has been more than slightly disastrous, interspersed with phases of being a Bit of a Goer.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 08/11/2013 09:17

"Bit of a Goer" - there's an 80's phraseGrin

hattymattie · 08/11/2013 09:46

BTM - I haven't actually seen you in the flesh but on your photo's you look a dead ringer for the Directrice of the DC's school. She is very nice by the way Smile.

I'm so sorry about everybody's health problems. I for the moment have got over my menopausal weepiness and and am feeling remarkable stable (it won't last).

Had great book club last night and am pleased to report that the Diplomat is great fun.

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2013 11:04

Oooh, I have a French double - how exciting!

originalpiratematerial · 08/11/2013 11:07

Chortling at "Bit of a Goer" Grin
