Hi ,mostly wear shift dressess with cardi with nod to retro eg the Biden blue green vintage rose frock.now it is cold ish need tights but the tights I have just kill the colour of my dressess and spoil the look.Im a hoc spring; pale skin, auburn hair ,blue eyes. I tend to wear blue ,tutq green and raspberry aw well as grey shades of cardi. So when I have my blue and green dress if I put grey or black tights on they just ruin the outfit and my dressess are not getting worn! I can't do dark colours the deepest I have us an emerald green dress which looks ok w black tights and a French navy which also does; apart from that my other dressess seem to be apolit with tight for eg I have a cream and pale green patterned retro shift dress.have seen coloured tights on e bay and lack confidence how to use these colours ; I'm a young looking late 40 s and five foot two slim ; I can't do neon and young bright colours as I would look clown like to me! But have seen soft real, real tights, taupe tights; any help massively appreciated ,both re tights and shoes ; wd love grey ,blue ,teal ballet flats and t bars! Oh and green ! Spent most of day if looking y day to no avail shoes ! Am driving self bonkers re tights don't want a draw full of tights I can't use and feel bamboozled! Thanks!

ps - what i mean re tights is if i have a dress with more neutral colours in i understand how to match tights;but if i have a green and blue only type of colour range in the dress then actually matching tights in green or blue may look odd ????For eg ive got a dress that is just dark cream and raspberry - raspberry tights would look full on ????and i just dont know what tights to choose as black just kills the look.In boden were most of my frocks are from if not vintage ones the models have seemingly bare legs - mine are not good legs plus its cold.Im not sure about sheer tights - they look good on others to me if right but dont seem me ; did buy a pair but my legs which are beyond pale loooked oraange - not a god look either !!!!!!!!!

Sorry op, no suggestions but I'm bumping it too as I have been lurking all afternoon, hoping for some tips.

I want to wear more dresses and skirts but, like you, I struggle when it's too early for boots and chunky tights but too cold for bare legs. I'm not keen on sheer tights; black opaques can look a bit 80s and coloured tights are just a minefield....

So come on people what do you all do??

Nude micro fishnets!

have you any (independent?) local shops you can go to and look at a range of tights?

I quite like wearing subtly patterned tights in a toning colour, find that looks a bit less full on than a solid ccolour.
