I am 41 but have acne and need to deal with it once and for all!
Is this La Roche stuff any good? I believe it can cause a big breakout to start with but do I need the whole range?
Any La Roche experts about please help!

I have used it for a few years after a terrible break out caused by Eve Lom cleanser. I find it fantastic, it cleared my spots up and keeps them away. The only time I see a sign of a spot is when the Effaklar runs out and I have a few days without it. As soon as I get a new tube the spot disappears. That's proof enough for me.

I've been using it for about three weeks to deal with rubbish peri menopausal skin. I have noticed absolutely no improvement but others swear by it. Feel a bit foolish for listening to the hype.

Been using the Duo (evening), K (morning) and AI (?) the blemish zapper for about 10 weeks. I had to stop my usual antibiotic treatment as I'd been using it for about 5 years and GP said I had to stop. So using this as an alternative. So far I have had some spots but they clear quickly with the AI cream and the other two do seem to keep my skin fairly clear. Left to its own devices I get horrid hormonal acne but this does seen to lessen it and help to treat it. I want to try the Effclar micellar water but Boots don't stock it Hmm might order it online. I would say worth a try as whilst not miraculous it makes a difference to my skin. I think there is probably no magic cure for my acne so I need to accept that and settle for doing all I can to manage it.

My acne is totally hormonal never had spots till I was 30 grrr!

Chartreuse which Effaclar products do you use?

Mrsrhod- that's what I'm worried about, I am a sucker for trying new things, spending a fortune and then no change!

Amethyst Did you notice a purge at the start of using it? I've heard that the Duo can cause a strong tingling and an initial bad outbreak until it settles.

No initial breakout. My breakouts do now seem limited to the week of my period Hmm no problems with duo but I do have v oily skin, not dry which I guess may be more sensitive?

I've used quite a few products from the Effaclar range and it does absolutely nothing for me. No reaction to the products.

I have been using the Clinique Anti-blemish solutions 3 step system and it's been great. I have not had any reactions to those products either.
I also find them less harsh than the usual Clinique 3 step systems - I can't use those as they are way too harsh.

I think the whole purging stuff is a myth. I think getting more spots when using new products is more likely to be down to an allergic reaction or irritation than the skin purging.
I wouldn't want to risk more acne scars and so on from using something that will break me out more in 2-3 weeks, and I've never heard about any hand creams or other products that will make the skin drier/worse for 2-3 weeks before they start doing any good.

I have used it and its great but it was very drying I used it at night then the K during the day and a good moisturiser. I have to say though that when I used the dermo cloth and a hydroclycic (sp) night treatment from Bravura my skin never looked so good.here and once a week THIS
