I'm sat here with my hair wrapped in cling film with colour B4 on! Just as as promised myself no more messing on with hair colours!

I'm bricking it - firstly I'll be grateful if I have any hair left (I've coloured my hair 3 times In the last 3 weeks. And if it comes out at least a decent shade of orange I'll be alright with that! Why oh why do I do it? Arrgh!!

I'm going to need some serious deep conditioning treatments after this! I'm trying to grow my bloody hair so it's got to look at least at better than this

Praying I don't turn out bald....I've a really really round head & face so I'm screwed if I loose my hair!

Oooh how exiting , it will be fine. Are you In the salon or at home Smile

VeganCow · 03/10/2013 11:48

You can use colourb4 3 times in a row id its not stripped enough.

B&M do a cheaper version for a fiver, works just the same.
You might find as well that the stripped hair goes darker over the next 24 hours as the hair is exposed to the air. Its the only thing I dont like about these hair strippers.

Rooners · 03/10/2013 12:06
Shock

Good luck!

HaveAGoodDay · 03/10/2013 12:09

I'm at home buttercrumble - much cheaper!

vegancow - I've used it before so I kind of know what to expect, still could be a surprise though! I'll just be happy to have hair left on my head! I'll be absolutely devasted if my hair fell out - and it would be my own stupid fault. I think hubby will just have to handcuff , I've obviously got an addition to hair dyes/ hair strippers etc!

OP posts:
SugarMiceInTheRain · 03/10/2013 12:14

I've used it and it was fine. But I couldn't leave the hair dye alone for long Blush Have re-decided to stop messing and have dyed mine back to it's natural colour so that regrowth isn't so obvious. Fingers crossed for you!

VeganCow · 03/10/2013 12:54

Hope it turned out ok Grin

Apparently if you re dye it within the next 3 days, its in a receptive state, but go a whole lot lighter than you plan to..so for a light to medium brown go for a dark blonde. And go for ash tones cos of the ginger you're left with. You probably know this but just in case Smile

Know what you mean about addicted to dyes and strippers...god the things Ive done to my hair.I also worried about it falling out using strippers.

The biggest hair dye lesson I have ever learned, and it took me years to learn it, is when dying hair, only do the regrowth! I used to slap the whole pack on all over and wonder why the ends were darker. I also used to think the picture on the pack matched the colour expected. Its about 3 shades darker on real hair!

HaveAGoodDay · 03/10/2013 13:29

Well!....

OMG! After rinsing off Colour B4, I was left with YELLOW roots about 3" inch worth & an orange/auburn ombré effect! As you can imagine a few expletives rolled out if my mouth!

So I've slapped on a 8 wash level one dye in light brown, tried to get light ash brown but didn't have it in the shop so fingers crossed this will tone down the yellowness. I think now I know never ever ever to go down this route again.

At least I've got some hair left. I think. Fook knows what I'm going to do after this, perhaps just leave it be for now and invest in a hat or just wear my hair tied back, yes I think that's what I'll do, clip it back, no straightening required, no split or dry ends on show! Drop Dead Fred. Ugh.

OP posts:
VeganCow · 03/10/2013 13:34

It goes yellow nearest the roots cos of the heat from your scalp and it has less dye build up here compared to the rest.
Know how you feel, been there. It should darken up over the next 3 days and become more even and the light brown should make it better. It might go very dark on the ends still though.

Morrigu · 03/10/2013 13:37

Oops. Mine went bright orange after two lots of colour before. Did go darker over the next couple of days. It still has a bit of a brassy orange sheen to it in sunlight :)

awaywego1 · 03/10/2013 14:55

Try not to panic, mine came out really orange but within 48 hours was mid brown again. Very relived Grin

HaveAGoodDay · 03/10/2013 15:22

So I've washed the light brown out, didn't really do much. I've dried hair and ran straighteners through very quickly! It's kind of like a light/bright auburny colour, darker through lengths and much lighter at the roots! It is rather dull here today & chucking it down so I guess in lucky it's not bright sunshine or I would be glowing!

Hubby says its okay. Its not really uniform in colour! But it'll have to do and like a few of you have said it will most likely darken over the few days so hopefully will look a bit more acceptable!

Kids will be home soon, at least I'll get an honest answer from them!

ebaymad · 03/10/2013 15:30

Yea kids are always honest Grin

My daughter said to me yesterday "nice eyebrows mum" i thought she was being sarcastic but she said they looked good! Well apart from one she said was darker than the other and one was a better shape...

Good luck with the hair!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/10/2013 13:15

I share your pain. I dyed dark brown for so long that I was almost black at the ends. Have had mixed success with colour B4 in th.e past so went to salon this time ARGHHHH my hair was ruined. bleach bath took all the colour out ok, except I was almost white at the roots and after the top colour went on I came out orange with glowing roots. stylist tried to disguise it using a darker brown semi which looked better but my hair was like candy floss. Today I have done a brazilian keratin straightening treatment and thank goodnes it has gone back to being smooth and shiney again.

VeganCow · 06/10/2013 17:15

How is your hair now, did it darken up?

HaveAGoodDay · 07/10/2013 11:48

Yes it's darkening up, although I haven't washed my hair yet, I've only gone & got strep throat so I'm in agony with throat pain & feel absolutely c*ap! I only hope it doesn't darken too much....right now though I just want to feel better & return to feeling human again :(

OP posts:
HaveAGoodDay · 08/10/2013 10:46

Well just to update - I washed it last night, not very good I might add, because i was in the bath - still feeling really rubbish - it kinda looks like its almost returned to its previous colour, dark flattish brown with the roots remaining a light coppery brown! Not great, feeling rubbish & my hair feels utterly dry to boot :(

Feeling too I'll to do anything about it & hubby will have me strung up if I so much as mention another hair colour! So this is where my hair colour journey ends for me.

On a better note, haven't had a cig since last Friday, so really going to try and stop, use this opportunity of illness for something good at least!

OP posts:
HaveAGoodDay · 08/10/2013 10:47

feeling too ill

OP posts:
applecrumbleandcream · 08/10/2013 12:01

Aw hope your feeling better soon x

My hair was far too dark but I couldn't be bothered with all the faffing about with Colourb4 or the Decolour stripper so I used a Lloreal Preference blonde colour and it gas taken it from very very dark brown to a couple of shades lighter. I would definitely do it that way again.
