Sizing on H&M trousers?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 30/09/2013 22:27

They have a good price on skinny cords at the moment but I've never bought trousers from them.

What is the sizing like?I know tops and dresses can sometimes be off

They definitely cater more for the skinny teen market, so you might have to size up a little (unless of course you are a skinny teen).

Having said that, I have a pair of size 10 H&M skinny chinos which are absolutely vast.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 30/09/2013 22:52

Go one size up, possibly 2. I normally feel incredibly depressed after shopping there.

I'm normally a 12-14. Couldn't get my bum in the 16 skinny cords!! Wasn't prepared to try an 18. Not sure they even had one!

holidaysarenice · 30/09/2013 22:53

The trouser sizing is awful in there!!!

tanfastic · 30/09/2013 22:54

I have a pair of h&m skinny jeans and they are a 16 and I'm a 12. They are verging on the small side too Confused

However tops are a different kettle of fish. I find some are huge.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 30/09/2013 22:55

Not looking too good then :( shame as they're down to £7.49 at the mo!

I got some of those cords - they are nice - I'm a 10-12 and got a 12 - they are tightish but fit well.

SummerLightning · 30/09/2013 22:58

Got some other trousers in the same order - also a 12 and they are going back due to being too tight.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 30/09/2013 22:59

Thanks.May be worth a shot then?Although I'm hourglassed so may not work,BUT for the price it's got to be worth a try.hmm

I am boyish shaped with quite a big waist. So might be tight on your bum! Worth a try though. They are not that tight on my bum area.

RIZZ0 · 30/09/2013 23:09

I have the maroon cords from last year in a 14 and I'm a 12, they fit really nicely, however the navy pair I bought shortly afterwards (also 14) felt a bit tight. Give it a whirl in a size up from your usual.

SlinkyB · 30/09/2013 23:15

I walked in there in size 14 jeans recently and walked out with size 18 skinny jeans. Agree they're super long too, am 5ft 7" but have to roll the bottoms up loads.

Cat98 · 01/10/2013 07:53

I love the fit. I bought size 10 and they were fine, and I'm size 10 in most other shops too.
Definitely worth a try at that price!

MyNameIsWinkly · 01/10/2013 07:58

Their trouser sizes are plucked out of the air. I tried on two pairs of jeans allegedly the same waist (in inches!!) recently. One was too big, I couldn't get the button done on the other. I have also had to go up three sizes once. Didn't buy as too depressing.

openerofjars · 01/10/2013 07:59

I have found from buying H&M skirts that the sizing often differs between different pairs or different colours in the same style, so for example the orange cord skirt fit but the green one didn't. Try loads on if you can.

And yeah, I'm a 12 on the top in H&M and a 16 on the bottom. And I'm not a pear.

viperslast · 01/10/2013 08:00

I'm a 10/12 and wear a 12 from there. I have heard lots of people complain about the sizing but I suspect the problem might actually be the cut. They are cut for a certain shape and you have to size up if you are anything different!

Cat98 · 01/10/2013 08:12

That may well be true vipers last - I'm a bit of a pear shape and in other stores I sometimes find trousers that fit the hips are too big round the waist - but h&m are ok for me. Maybe they cater more for pear shapes/slim waists.

mmmdonuts · 01/10/2013 08:21

I'm a slim pear shape and their trousers are shite. Far too big on the waist. But that's true of most stores nowadays

BellaVita · 01/10/2013 08:27

I am 5ft size 10.

I recently bought a part of their trousers and was so bloody chuffed they fit perfectly and were the right length I went and bought another pair in a different colour.

Never do I have a success like that in any shop!

SundaySimmons · 01/10/2013 08:32

Sizing comes up small

Passthecake30 · 01/10/2013 09:18

I'm 6ft, size 12 with no bum....bought some size 14s to wear as ankle length chinos and actually looked like I had a bum, first time ever, I was going round bragging about my size 14 curviness for days ha ha

OneLittleToddleTerror · 01/10/2013 09:22

I thought their sizes on trousers are fine. It's bigger than topshop for a start! I'm size 8/10 in jeans/skinnies and nearly 40. I think it's definitely the cut like viper says. We all fit some shops better than others.

PrimalLass · 01/10/2013 10:45

The skinny cords are a bit small. Size up.
