Pixie cuts?

I'm wondering if it's time for a new hair cut. Currently I've got thick, waist length hair, which I've been dying bright red for longer than I care to remember. This has taken its toll, my hair is now brittle and no matter how regularly I have the ends cut, there's always some split ones making me look like a squirrel with a really bushy tail.
Now, are all pixie cuts really high maintenance? Just wondering because I'm generally useless when it comes to styling hair and frankly cannot be bothered with it either.

I don't even brush mine. It's maintenance in that you have to get it cut more often. I go every 5-6 weeks now. But day to day it is incredibly easy and I look younger and more put together than I did before.

oooh, that's exactly what i wanted to hear, thank you! at the mo i'm colouring mine every 5-6 weeks, at least in theory..., so that should be managable.

looking at pics at the moment. my lovely partner just told me that i'm too old for a side cut. i just turned 30, harrumph!

30 isn't too old! What's your bone structure like though? I'm sure you're gorgeous, but I think those cuts can be ageing if your face is closer to Pat Butcher than Mia Farrow.

30! He's mad.

this is how I first had mine. But now it's much shorter. Like Michelle Williams.

good point, BOF! i actually had to go and check in a mirror, haven't looked properly in yonks. my face is oval and not too wide. having looked up a few styles i definitely need to get my eye makeup in order otherwise a short cut just looks a bit plain, doesn't it?

savoy, i particularly like how you first had yours! and it just occurred to me that short hair is great for trying new colours as well as it'll grow out reasonably quickly too. oh, i'm getting all excited here!

I bet it will be lovely- you'll feel liberated!
