Slim leg / cigarette trousers for work

I hate buying trousers Hmm. I have short legs and a high waist and they hate me.

I do however live in skinny jeans which are quite flattering and I therefore keep feeling that I should be able to get a pair of slim fitting trousers for work which would look nice. But so far no joy.

Most recent effort was the White Company ones linked to on here but they were awful - wouldn't do up in a size 14 ( I am usually a 12 top and 12-14 bottom and am working hard to shift baby weight so pretty much back on track) and weirdly baggy round the knees.

Thinking the answer may lie with boden bistro trousers but wondered if I need regular or petite? I am 5'5" and usually need about a 30" leg...

Any other thoughts gratefully received?

My first thought is Zara or Mango - do you have either of those locally?

pudseypie · 28/09/2013 20:05

I've seen some nice black ones in Monsoon, fancied them myself, called Bobby I think, about £56 if I remember correctly although that was a few weeks ago.

Gap has brilliant black trousers for work in many different cuts. I live in the slim leg and skinny ones.

MissScatterbrain · 28/09/2013 20:31

Boden trousers tend to be cut for pear shapes. Had to send mine back as these were too baggy around the bum for me after a day's wear - the material has a bit of stretch in it so probably good for those in between sizes.

Sainbury's! Cheap as chips and great fit, size down as be generous. Our story has black and navy

nowaistatall · 28/09/2013 21:06

Zara are great for cigarette trousers Grin

Agree with Gap, I also wear black skinny jeans for work even though technically we have a no denim rule.

Thanks misscatterbrain, pear shape sounds good to me! Will give them a go then and if not, will check out some of the other options. Tend to find both gap and Zara are a bit low rise for me, but I shall keep an eye out .

Thanks for the replies!

i have a short waist and long legs so i can help here by telling you where i avoid!
I cant do marks and spencer ( they have a new range of wool ones that look LOVELY but are too high waisted)
next ditto

BetsyBidwell · 29/09/2013 17:22

I would argue gap are VERY short waisted -that is why they suit me.

noddyholder · 29/09/2013 17:24

I know loads of people who wear the gap ones all different shapes and sizes and seem to suit most.

BetsyBidwell · 29/09/2013 17:27

banana rep tends to be higher cut/

If i wear anything high waisted it does up under my tits - not a good look unless you are channelling regency fashun

BetsyBidwell · 29/09/2013 17:28

or want to look like hUmpty

noddyholder · 29/09/2013 17:32

I love high waisted under a shortish jumper though has a corset effect but agree I could never show. I fancythese

Boden ones arrived today. Will need to get them shortened by about 3" (I really do have short legs) but otherwise they are ok. Thanks!
