Matte or semi-matte lipsticks

I love matte lipsticks but have so far only bought Mac ones as I get a Mac discount, and am running out of colours to try. Have tried Rimmel but can't stand the smell (like dead barbies). Anyone got any matte lipsticks they love?

You can't beat a MAC. No matter how hard you try. Just have to wait for the new ones!! :-D

Haha maybe you're right twirlie, they are def the best :) I'm after a matte medium pink though and none of the Mac shades are quite right.

The new MUA ones at Superdrug are matte, and fab. Only a pound!! Dont be put off by that though. Worth a try for that price anyway.

Yes worth a try for sure Tallulah, am always seeing MUA stuff mentioned online but never seen it in the shops. Maybe cos I'm a Mac fiend.

Mac lipsticks on me are either greasy or drying. I haven't had anything from NYX that hasn't been fantastic. I do advise you google the colours on actual people reviewing them as the shade charts are not that accurate!

I've got NYX Louisiana lipstick Sunday, it's good for the price but don't think the finish is anywhere near as good as Mac. But then I don't find Mac drying luckily, I know loads do.

The new retro matte Mac lipsticks are quite nice.
I use the Mac lipliners instead of lipstick and they are matte too.

I think most brands have matte lipsticks right now - YSL, Estee Lauder, D&G, Revlon, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and loads more.

Some people use powder on top of the lipstick to make it more matte.

Never heard the powder tip Vibbe, sounds like it would work but feel a bit weird... I like the Mac matte ones because they last SO well. I was wearing Diva today and ate a load of oily food for lunch and it barely needed touching up afterwards!

I think both Kandee Johnson and Lisa Eldridge use that powder trick. It doesn't bother me doing it. I think LE applies it through a paper tissue. I've used a brush with a tiny amount of transparent powder on and that was fine.

I have relentlessly red, which is pink and awesome and lasts so well. I usually can't wear any Mac lipstick two days in a row as my lips get so dry, but the retro matte ones apparently aren't as bad as the other finishes.
I've used a lip balm under the lipstick and it still lasts all day.

I second Lipstick Queen Sinner range. Also, the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet ones are excellent.

Nars Satin lip pencil is amazing and I say that as someone was 100% loyal to MAC

novice I have one in bright pink (Yu) and yes it's amazing! They need more colours:)

I forgot to mention Burberry Lip Velvet, they are a gorgeous texture and the colours are really pretty.
