Clothes that you LOVE but others HATE

Do you rock a purple trouser with an orange lip but old ladies on the bus give you funny looks?
Do you shuffle to the corner shop in trackies and uggs and get giggled at by teenagers?
Like me did you receive a new pair of DMs today and get told by the other lady in your office that they're 'too clunky and not sexy'? Hmm
Come defend your style choices-what do you love to wear that others hate?

Brogues. I have one pair that certain people refer to as my golfing shoes, even though I do not play golf.
Mens pyjamas as they are so comfy & loose.

MrsCocoa · 27/09/2013 23:53

Big bold retro prints that belong on soft furnishings. Sample conversation with BF in changing room:

Me: 'But I love the 70s pattern and it hangs beautifully...'
BF: 'Yeah, just like my curtains'.

Trousers that come up to the waist.

My favourite look which I am desperately hoping will make a come back is shoulder pads.

Not the massive Dynasty ones but 1940s classic shaped ones!

I have several expensive watches but I love love my cheap plastic MENS casio watch, despite getting odd looks from people as it stands out from the rest of my style!

DH is very Hmm and judgey at my achingly stylish black boots, jeans and blacket jacket combo.

Catch yourself on DH , you're hardly Gok Wan

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/09/2013 00:37

blacket jacket ? black jacket

Bexicles · 28/09/2013 09:17

SundaySimmons I quite like that watch, I have a POP. Swatch from the 90's it attracts a lot of comments when I wear it!

lentilweavinghippy · 28/09/2013 10:25

I love my Dr Martens, my Uggs, my Birkenstocks & my massive cow print jimjams. I am unrepentant!

KatieScarlett2833 · 28/09/2013 10:42

My Uggs, my Birkenstocks my many, many many pyjama combos. I dress up when outside the house, but at home I dress for lazing about.
I will have to be surgically removed from my wooly tights, sod you and your 10 denier nonsense Smile

Mosschops30 · 28/09/2013 10:59

Love my Uggs
Crocs
Cath Kidston skirt
Fly Mol Boots

MerrilyMoo · 28/09/2013 11:06

I channel a bit of Bet Lynch and a bit of Kim Kardashian Grin

I like tight dresses, peplums, animal print, over the knee boots. Things that Mums Who are 30 Something Should Not Wear, apparently.

I refuse to join the comfy converse crew! Never!

PurpleFairy3 · 28/09/2013 15:53

I have a pair of sunglasses very similar to something John Lennon/Noel Gallagher would wear. Both DH and DM have expressed disgust at them. Smile I also have a love for gold rings which has been remarked upon as "chavvy" (although I guess that's more accessories really).

scarlet76 · 28/09/2013 16:02

I regularly wear lots of things that get slated on the S&B boards!
Uggs - short chestnut pair. Love with skinny jeans in winter
Boden rainy day coat - great for the school run and my commute
White stuff denim skirt - a staple with navy opaque tights

mypavlova · 28/09/2013 17:44

fleeces and boden

Awks · 28/09/2013 18:20

Swatch watches. Sorry.

Hopefully · 28/09/2013 18:32

Waterfall cardigans. Say what you like, I love them on me. Although they do look mad on teeny weeny dainty people who appear to be wearing half a tent.

Doc marten triumph 1914s. Audible gasp of horror in the room full of well dressed ladies when I opened them.

AKissIsNotAContract · 28/09/2013 18:48

I go for the tattoos and 1950's style dresses that a PP mentioned.

madmomma · 28/09/2013 19:46

floaty midi length skirts and dresses. I sort of know that they look bad but I just love wearing them. I ge a bit of a kick out of the fact that they make me look clueless and old-fashioned. Dunno why.
I have a pair of leopard print skinnies that DH thinks are vile but oh well.

Y'know sometimes you just think fuck it don't you? Like you'd rather look bad and stand out a bit than blend in with the boring uniforms

AvonCallingBarksdale · 28/09/2013 21:06

Sheeeeeet MerrilyMoo, I am part of the comfy converse crew - and have now realised I don't want to be! That was just the kick up the backside I needed - thank you!

working3jobs · 28/09/2013 21:29

onesies- but today, my 87 year old nan opened her door to us wearing one ,and ,well, looked cute somehow!!!!!! she got it in sainsbos along with her shopping apparently.
(the green pop sox with Velcro sandals didn't enhance the look however)

god bless her.

tethersend · 28/09/2013 21:33

Pretty much all of my wardrobe.

I am a bit obsessed with all things 70s, so have many, many vintage dresses which your nan probably wore Grin
