Thankyou all for shirt advice - when get paid will order x 5 lewin shirts - on offer at mo 5 for£ 100 .
Thankyou !!
When i look at my dh suits - without being mean - they look a bit charile chaplin like to me .baggy etc.!!!!
So here goes second help reqest!
How do you tell if a suit is good quality??Im aware that how it looks before buying may not be how it look in several weeks time ..We bought x two bhs ones pure wool.No idea how to tell if its good wool or bad wool! They were approx£ 130 each.
Is it better one good suit or two less good for turnnover. We are not in position to go out and buy more at moment but we do need to plan ahead.

How do you look after suits.? Do you press between dry cleaning ?
Do fine jumpers under suits look smart.Ive tried tooking in catalogues such as next and boden on line ....

I think my most important questions are - how do you tell a good /decent suit?. Saw some in tk max y day - polyester - my instinct said no- but i may be wrong - and why did i shun it ???how do you look after suits .and were do you get them from.We need to mix and match as jacket needs to be short lenght.

As a future choice we wd also look at personal choice. He likes vintage style suits although that wd be for future- well a nod to vintage - but that would def need to be a future buy for now - just need basic decent suit to look proffessional - I saw some tweed look ones for future vintage for- occasional - less- foraml- suit- wear in in primark and next - tweed like with tweed ties, but dont want to buy in future if will look terrible v soon

.Is all this linked to wool content?.Saw lovely traditional tweed type jacket in tk max y day - but it was only 50 % wool.am so confused !!!!!.Advice eagerly awaited and gratefully recieved.!!!!

ps what type is good all rounder ???- im not sure about what he could wear in summer but linen would be a no no. sorry for all over place post!!rushing to go out later and look at - yes - suits !!

We buy two pairs of trousers to each jacket as they get more wear. I think for a suit fit is everything - so it will be a case of trying a few on and seeing what looks good.
My DH often wears a fine jumper under his jacket - be careful to get one that doesn't leave a layer of fluff behind though!

Just checked the labels and all of dh's suits are 100% wool. He always looks very smart. I think with wool you don't get the shiny patches you sometimes get with cheaper materials. Having said that they are expensive so it might be a matter of weighing up cost and just what level of smart you need iyswim.

As you have two to be going on with I'd find out what sizes he needs in a couple of good brands so you can be ready to buy when there are good offers in the sales - Jaeger often has good discounts and are fabulous quality but even then probably £200+. Brand Alley and TK Maxx worth keeping an eye on too - we never get much in our local store but have found great suits online.

Oh and I think you're lovely for going to so much trouble to help your DH with this. Re the shirts would def try and get the non-iron ones - you still have to iron them but so much easier and they stay looking crisp for longer

DH has a M&S suit for important meetings but the rest of the time he wears smart moleskin type jean or chinos with decent shirts, along with a jumper or jacket).

Thankyou both -
didi- yes i will try go quality and hopefully these two suits will be good as both 100 % wool.Do i need to press them ? thankyou for saying im going to a lot of trouble - im struggling bit also enjoying at same time but must must make good choices - hes a natural combats type of dh and not fond of shopping or cities -the idea of travelling to one when hes shattered from work does not appeal to him both re his personality and also he is not a city person rather be out bike riding etc re grouping from work. Its really helping that im getting guidance - im depending on the internet - but we do have a local tk max!!!yay.

Miss - id be intrested in exploring that look you mentioned as he is ok to wear that at times. Were does yr dh get the trousers from for eg and what type of jacket - do yo mean a suit jacket? or a less formal style.- like cord ,tweed etc.Any shops i could look at on line wd be much appriciated.I d like to see egs of how that look is put together.thanks.

I never press the suits between cleanings and DH organises that himself. With regard to shopping my DH hates it too so we buy in the sales, mostly online which is most painless and also better value - it does get easier once you've got the basics in place!

DH has a dark moleskin jacket from M&S that he pairs with jeans or chinos. I would imagine cord and tweed would work very well if that's what your DH likes. My DH is a natural scruff and this smart but relaxed look suits him really well.

The problem with M&S is that their website is terrible at styling/photography but the look is similar to <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=cdn11.my-wardrobe.com/images/products/6/9/690367/m1_690367.jpg&imgrefurl=www.my-wardrobe.com/burberry-brit/camel-washed-moleskin-blazer-690367&h=2000&w=1350&sz=626&tbnid=dH5kWwjXGScA1M:&tbnh=95&tbnw=64&zoom=1&usg=__Ln3ZSTTtpAdKBeD_EpVnTZHvDAg=&docid=cLfttBzsdGr0hM&sa=X&ei=sZJFUuT4KJSS7AaSm4CoBQ&ved=0CG4Q9QEwAA" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> this except that he's older and fatter!

sugar4eva · 27/09/2013 21:48

Thats exactly the look my dh would like - thanks for suggestion - not really thouht of moleskin - wasnt sure what it was...ditto my dh is older and fatter too!!! ha !!
