skirt

I'm 47, size 16 hourglass and am panicking as this is a bit off my wardrobe 'radar'. Its just I thought "Sod it - I want this. You only live once" etc.

I'd probably wear it for evening stuff, so would need a top/ jacket, and shoes or boots. I'm thinking black opaque tights, but cannot get any further!

Any help gratefully received!

Could you say what is on your wardrobe radar usually?

IDismyname · 26/09/2013 21:22

I'm a SAHM, country girl, but have to get dressed up and do my corporate bit with DH every now and then.

My evening wardrobe has had nothing added to it for several years, so it needs updating desperately. For DH to comment on this, I really know it needs doing!

Am sick of looking rather mumsy - usual evening 'radar' would be velvet trousers with a jacket on top and camisole. Jackets are grey velvet or a bronze brocade number. Flat pumps with jewelled bits - maybe black suede wedges.

Hope that helps...

I'd be into greys or silvers. Can't 'do' gold stuff!

I wouldn't put a jacket with leather - think it might end up a bit 80s. Go for knitwear - either thin with a sheen or thicker and slightly textured. Long sleeves, quite fitted, whatever neckline suits your bosom. And then some fabulous earrings / bangles / rings!

Oh, meant to say - jumper tucked in Smile

If that doesn't appeal, J Crew have got some other great styling ideas - inspiration?

Personally I like simple shapes in other luxe fabrics like silk or cashmere. Inspiration here?

this? with ankle or shoe boots for pub/restaurant where you don't need to be mega dressy?

this?

Casual but dress it up with a big necklace

Bright

Jumper

Thank you, rooty, pudtat and Remus - I'm liking your suggestions esp the Cos graphic print top.

I have a couple of V neck cashmere sweaters, so might those on too. Might stay away from the cardigans as I'm terrified I'll be back into "mumsy" land!

I'm thinking of either black suede shoes or shoe/boots or those stretchy pull on boots. Either way, its got to have a matt effect...

Wow I love that! Good on ya. I think definitely heels (not boots flats or wedges) & I think a black long sleeve blouse tucked in, maybe a puss now blouse or I love this skirt with a fluffy jumper like in the pic. Either way you will look fantastic x

Whereisegg · 27/09/2013 14:04

Silk cami in silvers or muted colours, or a lovely cashmere jumper, tucked in as said by pp.

For a work do, yes to sheer tights with heels, for something with just dp or dp and friends is go for some knee high boots with fishnets so there is just a hint of slut Wink

IDismyname · 27/09/2013 17:18

You're right Whereis - I want a hint of slut Grin

I think it would look great for day or not too dressed up evening occasions. Sort of casual luxe. With sweaters like the Cos or cashmere ones. And fishnets and long boots or smart but a bit funky black shoes depending on occasion.
