Looking for a maternity coat

I decided this year I'd treat myself to a new decent quality winter coat that will last years as I don't really own one. In January I am starting the nursery run and hoping to walk most days. I was really looking forward to buying a really nice one, but I've recently found out I'm pregnant. I'm just 6 weeks at the moment and due in May so will be pregnant the whole of the winter. I didn't have one with my other 2 pregnancies (dd1 was born in October before it got cold and dd2 was born in Feb but with just 15 months between them we didn't get out much!)

I don't even know where to start I'm not looking at spending very much on a maternity one, maybe up to £50 if I liked it. I want something tat will keep me warm and dry but looks stylish and doesn't make me look like a hippo. but it also needs to look good now even tho I'm not yet showing.

any ideas of where to look for a coat that fits the bill?

Over budget, but I think this ASOS duffle is nice.

Or if you want a parka type one, there are a few new look ones.

Try searching on 'maternity coat' using www.shopstyle.co.uk. Might give you a few pointers. I had a fab empire line parka from Mamas & Papas but I bought it from one of their outlet stores. Worth looking on eBay?

Oh I like that Asos one! And I'm going I be pregnant all winter so really £80 isn't a lot to spend if I'm going to he a lot of use out of it. And technically it takes 2 to make a baby so really dh should pay for this too right? After all I wouldn't need a maternity coat if it wasn't for him!
Haven't tried shopstyle before so will give them ain't later, thanks :)

When I was pg with DS during the winter, I asked Sunday Times Style mag for advice on a coat and they suggested a cape, which strangely enough looked great (I think!). I've just found it again now I'm not pg and since I bought my normal size (it is rather gathered), it still fits and I'm going to wear it this winter again.

I ordered the ASOS one & sent it back last week ...because it's so small. I'm 8-10 and 22 weeks & it didn't fit.

So I'm in the same boat & still looking :-(

What size are you?

Am about to eBay an unworn maternity coat in size 16...

tethersend · 23/09/2013 17:23

It's this one

It looks navy but it's more of a fine navy and black woven texture.

I'm a size 8-10 before in gp have gone to a size 12 but think 16 will be too big. Thanks anyway.
