I have a date on Weds eve with a man that I have known for about 18 months but only through a toddlers group.

As he is a LP too we have arranged for me to go round for a DVD after his DS has gone to bed (my DS will be with his father for the night).

So, I am always in mum-mode when I see him and want to make an effort but not too much as it's just DVD and bottle of wine.

I saw this dress and wondered what you all thought (as you all have impeccable taste of course!)?

I would wear it with opaque tights and flat pumps. I'm 5ft 7 and a size 8 top 8-10 bottom. I have short legs but a good waist. Money is very very tight!

All opinions welcome!

I really like the dress, I saw it in the flesh yesterday after seeing it on the website and it's fab. Hope the date goes well Smile.

YellowbelliedSapsucker · 22/09/2013 20:41

It's lovely, you'll look great. Have fun!

Fairylea · 22/09/2013 20:41

Oooh beautiful dress :) I really like it.

I'd probably be a slattern though and wear jeans and a pretty top for a DVD date but I think the dress is really nice.

TessTackle · 22/09/2013 20:41

Primark have very similar if money is tight? X

GeordieCherry · 22/09/2013 20:42

Lovely frock. Hope it goes well. Just a quick thought; can you sit down comfortably without flashing any gusset? Seeing as it's a couch-based date Smile

toastandmarmiterocks · 22/09/2013 20:46

I like it (not the shiny belt though), good luck with the date!

Fairylea · 22/09/2013 20:47

Does it come off easily?

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 22/09/2013 21:01

Porpoise that's really reassuring to know as one of the reviews said the material was disappointing but I don't want anything too heavy if we're indoors.

Grin at the gusset showing!!! I'd better do a trial run in front of the mirror beforehand!

toast I thought exactly the same about the belt! I have some other skinny belts (okay, a lot of belts) so will replace that.

Thank you so much! Feel a bit more confident now. I didn't want to go over the top (hence the flat shoes) but he's only ever seen me in jeans and t-shirts and I want to show him I'm not always in mumsy clothes.

Fairylea I'll have you know I am not a lady Wink It can't be any worse than trying to peel off my skinny jeans though.

Fairylea · 22/09/2013 21:28

:) well I guess that's true. Skinny jeans are the work of the devil for seductively removing them.

Have fun!

Reastie · 22/09/2013 21:29

Good luck for wednesday Wink . Really nice dress.

I also really liked the (hope I don't get the colours muddled up) green spotty dress with the red cardi and shoes combo (or could have been the other way round )you wore when I saw you a while ago. Actually, come to think of it, I'm sure I've seen you in a lovely black and white skirt which also looks really nice.

I'd say go for the new one though if you fancy something new (and if you feel more confident in it).

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 22/09/2013 21:34

Ah Reastie thank you! I really liked that dress too but it seems to have grown and is too big for me now Sad. Think I may have to have a clear out (finally) of post pg clothes and have a big sale! Then I can buy more clothes with the proceeds

Really lovely dress, very classy! Good luck for your date Smile

ArabellaBeaumaris · 23/09/2013 09:01

The dress is very nice & I would thought is just the right thing. I have a HH jumper that always gets compliments & I rate their stuff. Hope the date goes well - are we going to get an update? Smile

RSVP · 23/09/2013 09:21

dress looks nice, have fun and keeps us posted!

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 23/09/2013 09:22

Thank you Arabella, I have a great jumper by HH (cats with glasses on it) and love it too.

I promise to update you all, see if he comments on what I'm wearing at all Grin

Have fun!

I like the dress for you as you sound young.

I'm an old bat and have to resort to wearing nipple tassels and and bringing a bottle of rohypnol on dates.

INeedSomeHelp · 23/09/2013 09:35

Sunday that made me laugh out loud. Think I might need to resort to that approach!

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 23/09/2013 13:37

Sunday you're my kinda gal.

I wish I were young

Reastie · 23/09/2013 14:52

sunday Grin

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 23/09/2013 16:03

Oooh, Reastie, I have a People Tree skirt that you may like! It's an A-line white/ blue/ black floral one. Looks better than it sounds! I'll save it for your next visit. Smile

Oh I got the dress today, unfortunately it wasn't in the sale still but it is even better the flesh (so to speak). It is rather large on, I had to get a size 6 and practically danced around the shop when leaving.

OP posts:
Reastie · 23/09/2013 17:09

Fab, thanks It'sOK I have no idea who People Tree are but you've sold it so well Wink
