Have DD1 and I shrunk?

Or have Sainsbury's sizes gone mad.

I got a 14 gilet comfortably done up round my size 16+ arse and a size 12 skirt hung precariously from DD1's exactly size 12 hips despite being a waist high skater skirt. It was huge and stupidly long.

I have lots of Sainsbury's stuff all nice accurate 16.

I've shrunk too then! I normally need an 18 in coats / jackets to take into account my gigantic large chest, but have just bought a size 14 jacket there which is roomy.

Shops seem to be going mad with vanity sizing at the moment. It's very annoying.

Totally mad we have shrunk in Sainsbury's, but grown in H&M.

I wish people would make their minds up.

I don't understand why there can't be standard sizing - so everyone knows exactly what size they are, and can buy clothes online and have a reasonable expectancy that they will fit!

I completely agree. I recently purchased two coats from asos, the sizing is ridiculous. A size 38 equates to a 12, I am a size 10 but don't mind buying a size up in coats and jackets because I can comfortable wear layers or jumpers underneath.

However, this particular coat is so big, at least a size 16 or 18! Another poster bough the same cost in the same size and reported that it was massive as well!

At the moment the only stores with accurate fittings for me are Tesco clothing and matalan of all places, they seem spot on with their measurements.

M&s are another one who's sizes have gone awry. I would have to buy a size 6 in most of their stuff and no way on earth am I a size 6!

Yes h&m have gone odd and I have to buy a 12 in a lot of their stuff. I did try on a jacket and the sleeves were so tight I would have needed a 16 but then the rest of the jacket was way to big!

No way does 38 equal a 12, I'm a size 16 and 38 is the size tops I wear. Size 12 DD always has 36 school jumpers to get a blouse and tshirt under them.

H&M just don't believe in hips, so they are hopeless.

I though in most UK shops (not h&m) a 38 was size 10?

The 38 I bought should have fitted my size 10 frame or be slightly loose. It would fit a size 18 easily. Ridiculous.

Sainsbury's sizing has always been big though, especially their tops which are tent like in proportion.

Next are another one. I am a size 10/12. Went to the Next sale last weekend to buy some jeans, the size 10s were falling off me. There is no way that I am an 8.

I suppose vanity sizing is supposed to make us shop there as we feel good about being a smaller size (in their book). But it just annoys me as I don't know what size I need from one shop to another.

It's silly. I'm a size 8, have been for ever really. Now I'm finding most of the size 8s too big and having to look at size 6. I haven't lots weight/ inches at all ( if anything gained slightly). I do hope this vanity sizing doesn't continue as I will find it hard to buy smaller sizes
