Braces in your 40s - experiences?

I am becoming more conscious of my teeth and feeling a bit awkward about them. I am 42 and wore a brace as a teen for significant overbite. It was improved but it is still approx a third of a cm over. I had no treatment on the bottom which are so overcrowded that I can't floss so trips to the hygienist are a bit grim.

I would love to get them sorted but wouldn't want train tracks (thinking Invisalign?) but have no idea of the cost or what treatment is like. Any experiences greatly welcomed.

I'm in my late 30s but thought I'd post anyway!

I did Invisalign, cost about £3k, which I did on interest free credit over a year so it spread it out a bit.

The results are great. I smile all the time now!

The downside is constant tooth and aligner brushing after you eat coz you take them out to eat and they need to go back in straight away.

I thought they were obvious, but few people noticed.

I wish I'd done it ten years ago!

I am going to have mine done soon. I think I am going for train tracks. EEK! But the clear(ish) ones. I know it's not perfect, but it's better than metal.

I want a good result as I had braces as a teen but no retainer and they have moved a lot. Like you the bottom teeth were never looked at and are therefore very overcrowded.

My Orthodontist didn't think that Invisalign would give such a good result. I am waiting until we have saved more money as it is a lot of cash to spend.

I had ceramic train tracks at 40 which were initially hard to detect. I switched to metal wires after a while because the tooth coloured wires discolour quite easily. I actually wish I had gone with metal brackets & wires from the start - it's a cleaner look IMO and they do the job much quicker.
