mazzystar · 25/06/2006 11:33

how do i feel?
appalled
wistful for the 23" waist of my 20s
resigned to flobber

motherinferior · 25/06/2006 11:34

Hmmm. I've never been hog-whimpering wild about my tummy on account of Body Issues When Younger (twit that I was), but it does fit back into size 10 jeans again, so I'm kind of looking on the bright side.

Although I have to say it has done wonders for my relationship - don't know quite how I'd ever face the idea of anyone else seeing me naked again.

zoeuk1 · 25/06/2006 11:40

im slimmer with a flatter tummy after having 2 kids than i was before having kids. (not sure how that happened)i have a few stretch marks but they are all below my belly button. the only exercise i do is cycling to and from school each day.

EmmyLou · 25/06/2006 12:00

Hate it. Have had 3 children. Do aerobics and pilates once a week but it still hangs there like a separate being with a wobbly life of its own.

Piffle · 25/06/2006 12:03

2 kids I need to exercise to fix it
And to to stop drinking ale.
When I gave up beer for 8 weeks after xmas my tummy went down in two weeks an entire size!
I am still able to suck mine in and produce a washboard tummy, but not for long.
I must join the gym and move on to wine and soda...

AdelaideS · 25/06/2006 12:13

Mine has always been biggish, one of those "apple" shapes, but the funny thing is now I've had kids I don't mind so much, even though it's worse. It's like now I at least have a reason for it....and I'm LOVING my 40 week bump...the rest of me has stayed slimm(ish) and who's to know I'm not normally flat and toned?!

Ask me again in 4 weeks...

intergalacticwalrus · 25/06/2006 12:21

Mine looks like a mound of uncooked, and well-kneaded dough with the AA Road Map of Great Britain printed on it.

Unsurprisingly, I hide it.

Even at 28 weeks pg, it still looks flabby.

mummyofeb · 25/06/2006 17:05

I loved mine prepregnancy, super flat, toned and smooth!!!

NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!

I've decided that I can't do anything about the embossed skin and stretch marks but will be doing my Davina McCall exercises at least twice a week even if nothing happens.

Twiglett · 25/06/2006 17:07

I am pleased to have one as it keeps my ladygarden away from my nose ..

lou33 · 25/06/2006 17:28

mine is flat, but after 4 kids it isnt tight, i need to tone it up

as long as i dont bend over it's cool

sparklemagic · 25/06/2006 17:30

mine is yucky, but even before pregnancy I retained weight on my tummy, always had a 'pot'.

I am losing weight at weightwatchers (good luck to enid on monday, it's working for me!) so it is shrinking....however it is covered in white faded stretchmarks and call me weird but I LOVE them, they remind me what an amazing thing my body has done and I wouldn't feel right if all that trauma had just left no mark. I like to be reminded.

bizarre, I know!

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 25/06/2006 17:31

not flat but never was, better than before kids though when dressed. when undressed a crinkly crumply mess. three kids though!

Can't do sit ups or similar due to back and neck problems that left me unable to walk for three months when I was in my early twenties. So i'm happy enough with what i've got.

LadyTambaOfTambaTown · 25/06/2006 18:07

I would love a flat toned stomach but all losing weight does is seem to make it worse! Went from an 18-20 to a 12 and am a bit put out that I still have the flabby tummy! rest of me is ok though. Have done a lot of work on not hating the way I look, and the last thing on the list is to lose the baby tummy!

Am planning to go to aquatone again, as for sit-up, I used to do 100 a night and thought i was doing fab til someone pointed out that doing on the bed doesnt vount cause it was the mattress bouncing rather than my stomach muscles working - was wondering why there was no difference

Twiglett · 25/06/2006 18:08

you do all know that sit-ups result in a convex tummy

you need to pull your belly button in towards your spine and hold then repeat to get a flattened tummy

or so I believe

peanutbutter · 25/06/2006 18:40

my tum makes me glum...i'm thinking of getting a workout dvd for the days i can't get to the gym, but i have very limited space in my living room so can't have one that's loads of star jumps everywhere and stuff like that. can anyone recommend one that's more thighs, tums & bums (ie rather stationary) and therefore not bouncing around like a duracell bunny?

peanutbutter · 25/06/2006 19:08

thighs, tums and BUMP

Misspiggy · 25/06/2006 19:37

I hate mine as it's getting to the point where it's so large it's going to need it's own postcode soon! Joined a gym 2 months ago and haven't been once - God I'm pathetic!! Maybe this week I'll manage to get my arse (and tum of course)along there!

muma3 · 25/06/2006 19:56

i have 3 babies and i had lst one a year ago .

still look 5 months pregnant dont get me started on my hips its not normal

can saftly say i hate my body badly

peanutbutter · 25/06/2006 20:00

BUMP again: in case my question gets lost down the thread - can anyone recommend a workout dvd that concentrates on thighs/tums/bums and that doesn't involve leaping/star jumping about, as i'm very limited for space in my living room - ?

franch · 25/06/2006 21:16

pb: I can't personally recommend the following as I'm just about to order them myself but have done a fair bit of web research - you might at least like to look at the reviews on Amazon:

10 Minute Solution - Pilates - Anchor Bay Entertainment; DVD
Body Target - Abs [2004] - Rodney Yee; DVD
Pilates Abs Workout [2005] - Pilates Abs Workout; DVD
Ultimate Yogalates [2003]

peanutbutter · 25/06/2006 22:07

franch, i hadn't even thought of pilates stuff (the written word pilates always makes me think of lovely johnny depp with bells on his goatee..) i'll have a look at those. thanks!

themoon66 · 26/06/2006 09:31

All the exercise in the world won't make skin snap back to pre-preganancy tautness. I should know coz I've been exercising like a lunatic for the past 10 or more years! Yes, I have lovely six pack, but it is hidden under the blanket of loose, saggy, crepey skin. The knife is the only answer, but I'd need to win the lottery for that

Kidstrack · 26/06/2006 09:41

after exercising like mad for the past 7yrs after having my ds, i still had a budah like tummy with lots of stretch marks and a horrible overhang of skin, after having my dd 3yrs ago i really wasn't happy with the loose skin, therefore on 3march this year i had a tummy tuck, it has worked wonders and i have my flat tummy back after 7yrs of unhappiness, the excess skin has gone and most of my stretch marks have ironed out.

themoon66 · 26/06/2006 09:48

Well done Kidstrack.... I'd do that too if I could afford it. Did all the exercise you had been doing make for a quicker recovery time? And can you now actually see the muscles you've been hiding under the skin?
