Looking for a down filled coat for DD, aged 11

I'm needing a really warm black coat for DD this year. She will be travelling back and forward to swimming in the bus with our au pair after school was am looking for something long and snug. I was thinking of a down filled one with a hood as I bought one for myself from Zara last years and its really warm :)

Debenhams/Marks have foam filed coats but I'm not sure if these will be warm enough.

I've seen a Patagonia down filled one on line but at 171 it's more than I wanted to pay for a school coat.

I see that Uniqlo have kids down jackets in at the moment but not coats.

Ay help would be appreciated please? Also would the foam filled ones be warm enough do you think?

Madamecastafiore · 22/09/2013 14:29

FauxFox · 22/09/2013 14:29

her size but not new

FauxFox · 22/09/2013 14:31

oh they still sell it here

AbiRoad · 22/09/2013 14:40

Sorry cant link in iPad but since you mention zara, there is a nice looking puffa coat which is I think down filled or at least partially down filled in their girls section.

Lands End?

snowlie · 22/09/2013 15:01

If it's for secondary I'd check she will have somewhere to store it during the day, none of the kids at our secondary schools wear coats, there's no where to put them and they are apparently not cool for school.

starrystarrynights · 22/09/2013 15:02

Thanks everyone however the coat needs to be black for school. I see some links to navy but I don't see a black equivalent to the nice gap and lands end ones linked :(

Sorry - I thought the Lands End one was black from the pic - must be v dark navy. Is she big enough to look at women's ones in XS sizes? That might give you more choice.

AbiRoad · 22/09/2013 15:44

I think the zara one I mentioned is black. also, my DD is similar in age and this year I got her a coat from superdry. Smallest size xs is ok on her and she is not big for her age. They have lots of black but not sure about down

How about this www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/079970

BHS, £30

At 11 I wouldn't buy any coat without a statement signed by child in the presence of 6 witnesses that she will actually wear it......

starrystarrynights · 22/09/2013 16:08

Thanks everyone. DD is tall for 9.5 which is why age 11 is needed!!

She's in year 5 and is walked to school and back with au pair so am pretty sure it will be worn - to the gates at least :).

I'll have a look further into the zara and Uniqlo ones, I think the Lands End one in an adults size will be too big
