OK, that's a bit vague I know, when you don't me, but maybe someone has suggestions.

I need new clothes for winter, my wardrobe is getting a bit shabby. I feel its presumably time to move on from skinny jeans and boots, its feeling a bit old now and I'm bored of it.

I'm a size 12/14, and my best feature is my legs, which are slim and a good shape, but I hate my middle, due to the dreaded mum tum.

I'm in my late mid thirties, so I don't want to be wearing anything that could get me accused of mutton dressed as lamb. But I don't want to look older than I am either.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might update my wardrobe a bit? I'm thinking a few decent quality things, rather than loads of cheap fashion. I'm sorted for a winter coat, and have loads of cardigans and scarves, it the rest of it that needs looked at.

Also, I have fallen in love with these boots, as they are so ridiculously comfortable, but I fear I'm going to be told they are a mum boot...

Anyone? Or am I a lost cause? Blush

Also, I've fallen out of love with those boots as I didn't love the square shape of the heel.

I was just going to say how lovely and very 'un-mum' those boots were... but just seen you've lost the love!

If you've got great pins, it sounds like a knitted dress with opaque tights and ankle boots could be the perfect update for you. Whistles or Reiss always seem to have quality dresses but Next also have some quite nice knitted dresses this a/w...

Not sure I can be much more help, but hopefully someone brilliantly stylish will be along soon.

And it just occurred to me, Zara had quite a cute jumper dress on the website (can't do links on phone, I am afraid) and I have also spotted some quite tempting jumper dresses on Asos (just in case you fancy going down the knitted frock route).

Show those legs off. Get yourself some gorgeous tights - there has never been more choice, in terms of colours and patterns - and some really lovely short-ish skirts. A-line or kilts or just plain, they'll look fantastic with tights and boots. The boots can be knee length or ankle, both will be great. And don't be afraid to mix up textures and colour. Clothes are very free now, all kinds of things can be worn together. Enjoy it!

thank you for the suggestions, maybe ankle boots and show the legs off is the way to update me! I've ordered a pair that are similar to the ones I linked to but with a slightly less block-y heel but now I'm wondering if I should have stuck to the first ones, as I might be falling for them again. I fear I have lost confidence in my choices Sad
