Are bobs frumpy?

Or is it down to the person with the bob? I think my hair suits a bob best as its too fine to carry off a long style and just looks straggly. I have a longer graduated bob with a few layers and a fringe. Every time I get my hair cut I have a moment of thinking 'hmm is this mumsy and frumpy?' although imo I don't have a frumpy style clothes wise I sometimes wonder if the hair can just give an all over appearance of frumpiness regardless! Anyone know what I'm wittering about?

Depends entirely on the cut and the person! I have a bob and it suits me much much better than long hair. I think it's because I have a small face so long hair overwhelms it. My bob is just below jawline, all one length with a full fringe. Usually wavy but sometimes straight. Don't know if that helps, but if a bob suits you then it won't look frumpy.

Agree! Every time I try to move away from a bob I end up coming back to it. I have straight fine hair and is hard to style any other way apart from growing it long or cutting it very, very short (which definitely isn't an option for me Shock).

When I get bored of it now I just dye it a different colour and accept that my hairstyle will probably always be some sort of bob shape Grin

Me too itsnothing and there are loads of different bob shapes so if you're bored try a different one! Extremely graduated, overly highlighted bobs can look a bit dated - but again it depends on your hair and face shape.

I have a jaw length bob with fringe. I like to think I look as chic as Anna Wintour. I undoubtedly probably don't but I look a lot better than when it was shoulder length, layered and a bit meh. At least a bob is a style whereas most longer hair isn't really.

I was thinking this last week, but had a look on pinterest at just how versatile a bob can be, so stuck with one!

I love the Amelie bob.

Gemma Arterton doesn't look remotely mumsy with her bob :)

I used to wear a bob, and she was my inspiration. Whilst being nowhere near as attractive as her, I have the same big features so it shows you don't have to be delicate and tiny to suit it:

I have a collar length bob with a very wispy fringe.

It's ideal for me because I tie my hair back for work, or if I have it loose it sits nicely.

But yes, a bit boring.
