H&M online account??

Cherrypie32 · 17/09/2013 21:27

I just made my first purchase from H&M online and it didn't ask me for payment, just said monthly invoice. It seems they will send me a statement which I then pay. Is this a good idea/the norm for H&M. Feel nervous I've signed up for an account I didn't want. An option to pay with a card didn't pop up??

You can opt to pay by card I think? I use the monthly invoice and it's fine.

ItsRoxie · 17/09/2013 21:57

You need to click the Payment Options box on the left at checkout, then you get a drop down menu and you can switch to using a Card. The monthly invoice is a bit sneaky, I think they charge £1.25 for it. Was it definitely Monthly Invoice and not Payment Slip in Parcel (no charge for that, you just pay on receipt)?

Birdies · 17/09/2013 21:57

I think there's a £1.25 charge though. At least, whenever I've had an invoice in the post they charge me.

CreatureRetorts · 17/09/2013 21:59

Ah yes I do the payment slip - don't get charged £1.25!

I did this in error before but called them up and asked to pay by card and they sorted it over the phone. (Use saynoto0870 to get a cheap rate number!)

Thanks all. Think I will try and call them tomorrow and change to payment slip. Did it all on the phone so either options didn't come up or I didn't see. Won't be a regular buyer online anyway but saw trousers today in shop I should have bought and can't be bothered driving into town again'

I noticed this the other day. It is totally dodgy, they should not default to a monthly invoice option which adds an additional charge / requires a credit check. The form is designed to obscure this information as well.

gallicgirl · 17/09/2013 22:10

I had this too.
Feckers.

Which reminds me that I must contact them to have a moan.

By the way, you can't pay over the phone either. You have to do a bacs transfer.

It bothers me that the default is a credit account when their target market is quite young.

Cherrypie32 · 17/09/2013 22:18

It's totally the sort of thing I avoid these days after getting into trouble when I was alot younger over spending. I'm terrible for remembering to pay bills and I bet they whack loads on if you forget to pay on time.

Next online are another one for this nonsense of setting up credit accounts. It's ridiculous and just stops me buying from them.
