Any particular coats you are comparing?

I've just ordered Didrikson's Taylor Parka, but as it hasn't arrived yet - can't really comment.

I know the Merrell Wakefield / Haven were highly recommended

I was looking for a waterproof one that covered my bum. Not excessively long as am only 5'2 (probably a size 12 atm)

this waterproof but soft fabric and warm and cheaper.

Oh and it has to be warm as I live in the frozen north. It also needs to be a bit stylish... for school run Grin

And I am only 5'3" comes down to just above knee and arms not too long. Found merrell arms too long for me.

Barbour peninsula is excellent but ££££

I have the Taylor and it's amazing - very very warm and comfortable and quite long (am 5ft7 and it's pretty much knee length, a bit higher perhaps)

I ordered a cheap Merrell Haven (in Birch) the other day and it was horrid in comparison - I think the darker colours are nicer, but still, the fabric felt more like a 'normal' coat and the hood was very unflattering indeed.

It did fit Ok but it had a fault in the stitching (actually loads of thread ends, as well as a label only half stitched on) and what seemed like a permanent crease on the bottom front corner. It was made in China and the quality felt poor.
It has gone back (though goodness knows how long to get a refund - field and trek never answer emails)

I'd go with Didriksons every time.

Oh and if you do - they come up very large, I am a 10- small 12 normally and got a 36 (8) by mistake and it is a perfect fit with room to spare. I'd be rattling around in a 10 I think.

Northumberlandlass · 17/09/2013 10:17

Pleased you like the Taylor Rooners - I'm 6ft tall and have heard good things about length / length of arms. I've ordered a 14 so will see what it's like.

Thanks Smile
