Didrikson's Lindsey Parka

After suffering in the stormy, cold, wet weather this morning on the side of a rugby pitch (watching DS), I have come to the conclusion that I need a new winter coat. I want all in one, so I don't have to layer up too much underneath.

So, started 'googling' when I got home & found Didrikson's Lindsey Parka.

Anyone have it? Experience of Didrikson sizing? Offer up any alternatives?

Has to be very warm & waterproof!

Hmm just looked at this because I need a warm coat for pram walking. How cheap have you found it OP? Oh shit. On Outdoor world 129 they're bloody out of stock :(

Northumberlandlass · 15/09/2013 19:49

I haven't found them anywhere apart from Didrikson site £170 & Outdoor world!! I'm looking on my phone at the moment, so tricky to have a good look! It's first thing on my list to do at work in morning Wink

I have it. I'm a size 12-14 and got the 12. It fits perfectly with just enough room for a jumper if the weather's arctic and IIRC the brand is generously sized in general.

Northumberlandlass · 15/09/2013 21:21

Ah thanks MissBetsey! Great stuff

Oh it's amazing. I bought one last Winter and I love it. It's not quite as warm as I thought it might be, but that might be because I'm always cold. But I can fit an extra jumper or two under to solve that. Big pockets, proper hood. :)

MmmmWhiteWine · 15/09/2013 23:22

The Lindsey is now discontinued so I think you'll be lucky to find it anywhere.

I have a Veronica and it was worth every penny.

Northumberlandlass · 16/09/2013 08:06

Thanks Twinkle - I am having a look at the 2013 season at Didrikson's. I am just getting confused now !! Smile

Twinkle what is the sizing like in the Veronica? Is it really warm, what colour do you have? Sorry, I'm asking a ridiculous amount of questions! Blush

ArtisanLentilWeaver · 16/09/2013 09:28

There is a knack to the Didrikson zip. You sort of push it up a bit when you clip the skinny part of the zip then give it a sort of hoick.
I don't have one but my dcs have.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 16/09/2013 09:46

Yy to the knack to the zip I sort of have to lean back and pull the bottom of the zip at the same time as pulling up, I couldn't do it for she's but now fine.

I have the green Veronica and I'm an 18-20 and have the 18, its lovely and warm.

Rooners · 16/09/2013 09:55

I have got the Taylor - it is beautiful and I'm living in it having sussed that the zip WILL work if you stand there trying long enough!

I am normally a 10, sometimes 12 and I actually got a 36 which is an 8 (forgot and thought it was a 10) and it fits fine with room for a jumper/several thinner layers under. It feels the right size.

HTH. I normally also wear a more classic style of coat but if someone tried to stop me wearing this now I have it I would lamp them Grin

and it's purple!

CuttedUpPear · 16/09/2013 09:58

There have been some great winter coats threads on here. I'll see if I can find a link.

MissWimpyDimple · 16/09/2013 10:18

Just be aware that the didriksons coats tend to fit a certain body type. IME they are cut slim at the hips and wider at the shoulders and the arms are long long long!

Great coats but sadly not for pear shaped me...

Rooners · 16/09/2013 10:26

Oh that is interesting. I always think I'm larger on the lower half, but then again my shoulders are very wide.

I realised yesterday I hadn't tried the coat while walking at a pace and actually, even when it is done up (and it is quite long) it is not a problem at all as the zip stops about 7 inches from the bottom.

Passthecake30 · 16/09/2013 13:07

I have the Thelma as a rain coat and am waiting for the Mary and the Taylor to arrive at Viking kids. The Thelma is perfect for me, size 12, 6ft, think it would swamp many ladies

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 16/09/2013 14:33

Ccw where I got mine had the Veronica for £110 this morning sure I paid £150 last year

anymoretea · 16/09/2013 18:14

Agree about the Didrikson body type. I was a size 8-10 last year and got an XS which fit perfectly, but this year I'm wearing size 10 jeans (can't fit into size 8 now) and it's straining at the hips, with no room for layers. Would love to get a new one as I loved the coat, it was so cosy and warm but the point of spending a bit more on a coat was that it should last a good few years!

ohmeohmyforgotlogin · 16/09/2013 18:17

I just bought crag hopper housley coat and love it. Soft waterproof fabric and warm. Can get from gaynors for 109.

JamInMyWellies · 16/09/2013 18:34

I got mine from this company. Not the parka but a similar one. I love it! I also bought a didrikson for my sone last year.

They do generally come up a bit big.

Northumberlandlass · 16/09/2013 22:12

Thanks all! Have gone for the TaylorSmile Can't wait for it to arrive. Taken all sizing points onboard.
