I need some 'proper' boots.

I favour the knee high, biker boot style. I walk everywhere and up till now have managed with cheapish ones. Now however I have a five mile round trip to DS's school, plus our new house has a lot more country walks. Can anyone recommend some decent boots that will last, and still look reasonably nice? I'm a size 3 with a wide fitting and my budget is probably around £100 which I appreciate might be a stretch!

Ta.

Everybody here is going to say DUO boots so I'll just go ahead and say it, Duo boots Grin. I haven't tried them myself, still pondering...

flootshoot · 16/09/2013 11:30

Thanks early, I've had a look but nine are grabbing me and mostly out of my budget... oh well. The search continues!!

clarks, they have some nice ones less than £100 and I hink the discount code for 20% off is still working.

I have ugg grandle as my favourites at the moment they are £160 from ugg. Also have some indigo collection from m&s ones that were 65 although those are more calf/ankle length than knee high.

next also have some nice boots knee high, I find they tend to come up snug though and go for the wide fit ones, but you might have slim legs, the thing that annoys me about buying next knee highs is how hard would it be for them to put in the description the calf circumference?

AnythingNotEverything · 16/09/2013 11:45

I have some knee high dr marten non lace up boots that might be perfect. Can't remember what they're called and can't link from phone, but if you go to the website they're £140 and come in tan and mahogany. They're brill in all weathers and really comfy!

BeCool · 16/09/2013 11:53

I can walk forever in my DM's and feet stay dry & warm.
I'm looking for alternatives too but wide leg fit makes it tricky.

I brought some wide calf fitting boots from Evans a couple of years ago - they looked OK but weren't the best quality in the sole/heel dept & I have a possibly permanent ankle injury now I credit to them so wouldn't recommend those.

What's the 20% discount for Clarks please? I need to get some more Orinoco boots before these ones for and they stop selling them. Grin

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 16/09/2013 12:06

*these ones die

I live in them.

CatAmongThePigeons · 16/09/2013 12:10

I got some from next last winter. I do not recommend them at all. They have fallen apart and leak like mad.

I do less walking than you but they still need to stand a good pounding, so I'm also place marking!

SavoyCabbage · 16/09/2013 12:11

Are they Elise?

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 16/09/2013 12:12

according to google the clarks discount code is BOOM for 20% off until 30th September, thought it was a longer code that I received on my leaflet in store.

flootshoot · 16/09/2013 12:15

Sadly not. I'm a shortarse as well so have less ankle than many retailers allow for. I had a look in Clarks today and did like some there. Will check out the M&S ones and the DMs!

flootshoot · 16/09/2013 12:24

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 16/09/2013 12:37

my sister has these, the calves aren't as wide as youd think, but the foot is a wide fit so probably too big. they do look lovely on. www.evans.co.uk/en/evuk/product/shoes-250471/view-all-boots-2155732/evans-black-leather-long-boots-2235365?bi=1&ps=24

FoxyHarlow123 · 16/09/2013 12:50

Offers on hoes you say? Where can I sign up?!

flootshoot · 16/09/2013 13:04

Arf. Liking some of the M&S ones, I gad a pair from there that did me two and a half winters which is unheard of for me.

Blush bloody phone!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 16/09/2013 13:54

These are the long version of the ones I've got. They come in black or brown, long or short, standard or wide fit. I luffs 'em. Grin

worldgonecrazy · 16/09/2013 14:02

I bought myself some Timberlands when I was pregnant and needed good flat footwear. Mine are lace up ankle ones, and still looking good several years later. These also look quite good here and should offer a good quality boot that is comfy and weatherproof.

flyingwidow · 16/09/2013 14:05

Google 'Merrell Autumn' boots- they are only short boots, but look GORGEOUS. (I wants them!)

Brodicea · 16/09/2013 14:09

I bought these at the weekend and they are so god darned comfortable!
I'm a 4 with wide feet
