What do I wear with this hacking jacket

Just been shopping with DH as my birthday present and instead of buying several tops as planned, he bought me this

It was a random try on his suggestion but looks really fantastic, fits beautifully. I was wearing dark jeans, lacey cream top and converse and it looked good I have a few tops tgat will work - brown, mustard, cream. But I'm looking for ideas on other things I can wear it with.

Any ideas on colours and or styles (any dresses, skirts, trousers, shirts etc)? It's dark green which is not that clear in the pictures.

I wear mine like this but with skinny jeans

trixymalixy · 15/09/2013 08:03

also nice over a floral dress

satsumagirl · 15/09/2013 08:25

That is a beautiful jacket! Enjoy.

I've had several similar jackets over the years and dream of finding another one Hmm They are super versatile. Great with skinny jeans and dresses. Also as useful for weekends as work.

Ace purchase.

stripy top

Lots of ideas - thank you!

I've never owned anything so expensive (apart from my wedding dress) nor anything quite so lovely and well made and perfect on me! it was one of those "Try this even though its to expensive just to see if this sort of thing looks good. Oh wow! Sod the budget!" moments. So this is quite novel and exciting. It's mainly for school run and social things as I WFH, so all the casual ideas are good.

This thread has inspired me. Having never considered a jacket of that kind before, I have now ordered one from Phase Eight. If it suits me, I may be looking to upgrade at a later date.... Fabulous jacket OP!

Is it this one? I tried that yesterday - unfortunately they only had a 12 and 16 in store and I'm a 14. The 12 was a bit too tight, the 16 too gapey. It was lovely, but then DH made me try this and I (and he) was smitten. If they'd had the Phase Eight one in a 14 I suspect we wouldn't have gone near the MaxMara one! We were in John Lewis so it was very easy to stray into upmarket territory :)

That's it. The Maxmara was my first choice (sod the budget) but they'd sold out online this morning. Probably just as well!

Twinklestein · 15/09/2013 14:06

Great jacket. J Brand, Balenciaga & Burberry do some dark green skinny jeans that would look really nice...

evertonmint · 15/09/2013 14:08

Twinklestein - you are very naughty. Now I've crossed the rubicon and strayed from my high street only clothing habit, it's very dangerous mentioning designer names to me... :)

MaxMara is beautiful quality. Have a few pieces from there which I bought 8 years ago and they are still good as new. I also have a cashmere oversized coat that I bought when pg with DS1 which is now 14 years old. I am bringing it out again this season.

Enjoy your new jacket :)

They were just examples OP, you can get them at high street prices too:
