Molton Brown changes shocker!

I am livid. Went into the Harrogate branch of Molton Brown to replenish dwindling Yuan Zhi stock only to find all packaging and the names of all products have changed. Yuan Zhi is now called Ylang Ylang and the font used on the bottles is much larger and quite tacky when you see it in person.
I spoke to the saleswoman who told me the range names had been simplified so that customers could see what they were buying and therefore would avoid confusion. Eh? I was bloody confused - all I could do was navigate by colour choice ( which seem quite garish now) and I am certain the smells are a bit different - okay it's perhaps a subtle change but I buy a lot of their products and the fragrances seemed a bit duped to me.
Molton Brown has always been my bath treat but these new versions seem much less luxurious.
Anyway, I buggered off next door to L'Occitane and filled me boots there.

I know! Blissful Templetree and Heavenly Gingerlily just are not the same without the Blissful/Heavenly prefix!!
What were they thinking?!

Thrustbadger · 14/09/2013 20:20

The smell probably has changed. Website says new names, stronger smells, brighter colours, new formulations. What the heck is a formulation?

I'm not happy. Changes are usually for the worse.

Op, are you me? I was in there this morning and got exactly the same story. I was in a hurry so bought the one that is supposed to be naranji, we'll see!

And then Daddy couldn't get any good brie, eh?

The cheek of them and their tacky font.

Thrustbadger · 14/09/2013 21:25

Don't like Brie, Chaource is much nicer. Not sure what my dad prefers.

As for myself I wouldn't mind what font MB have on their bottles as long as they hadn't messed with the smell. Bit like cadburys changing their recipe.

Not sure what your problem or point is mystic but you sound like you've got a pole up your arse.

mysticminstrel · 14/09/2013 21:34

For you OP.

You little flirt Wink

Thrustbadger · 14/09/2013 21:45

Like I said, big, fat pole.

I do hope you're not 'livid' with me.

I feel your pain, OP. I hate it when a beloved product is changed. Change is bad!

Have to say I think their stuff is massively overpriced. Shower gels are harsh and drying, moisturisers meh at best, not very moisturising at worst. Cheap ingredients, pretty colours.
