I would love to be able to buy both pairs in brown and black but I need to choose which pair to have in brown and which pair to have in black. Opinions?

I like these a lot. I'd say have the first link in black, second in brown as they are more casual. I love Clarks boots.

First pair black and first pair brown as first pair are sleeker and more formal and the second more rugged and casual. However the second in black would give you more of a biker look. They are biker lite though. I do have the second pair in black myself, but chose that colour as I could just about get away with wearing them to work and I didn't think I would with the brown.

Interesting that Clarks are getting better with their Acne Pistol wannabes.

I've ordered the first pair in black, hoping they will go with skirts as well as trousers. Not keen on the second pair.

As pictured as first one would look good with smart black trousers but second ones not so much. So first pair in blk and second in brown.
