Vintage rings

I've had this ring for over 15 years and thought that it was just paste/glass and gold stuff. It didn't have an assay mark. Just a mark saying (to me 8ct), I could see the 1 before the 8 but as it was a lot fainter (ie dodgy).

Turns out it's the real thing!

Mrs C, anyone, what do I do?

Can I get the size changed or play around with the stones?

Hi, I saw your posst and hope you won't mind my answering it. You can get most rings resized except those with stones all around. Some rings are more difficult to work with if the stones are delicate, ie., opal, pearl, emerald.

You can play around with the stones, have them reset or changed but, again, some restrictions here re type of stone and what you have in mind.

Best plan to take it to a jewellers who also have a workshop where you can get better advice once a jeweller has seen the ring.

The jeweller should be able to tell you whether what you were planning to do would be more expensive that just buying the ring you want. If your ring has sentimental value that might not be a consideration.

You don't mention size/type of stone but if it had resale value to a jeweller, they might buy it off you and you can shop around. Alternatively, they might be able to take your ring in part-exchange against something they have in stock that you would like.

Please ask again if you would like more advice.
Elaine
