Are ponchos lame?

Because I just saw one in Sainsburys and I really liked it.
It's massive and woolly looking (and cheap Grin) and thought it would be nice for autumn to just throw over tops and jeans

Gosh I hope not! I'm on the lookout for a grey one. Have a real yen for one. Can you link the Sainsbury's one? I think they're perfect for Autumn.

SundaySimmons · 13/09/2013 20:48

Not so much lame as making you look humoungous if you are not of a slender stature.

Thatsnotmychicken · 13/09/2013 20:52

I have one which I love (although i don't profess to be a fashion expert). Asked my 2yo dd if it looked nice or like a tent. She said a tent but what does she know she's 2!

Selks · 13/09/2013 20:59

I like them, but my daughter has 'banned' me from wearing one Grin

("Mother! You can't leave the house wearing THAT!")

3hens · 13/09/2013 21:23

Oh no, don't say that!! I really fancy one this autumn! Cold sunny Autumn day, big sunglasses, poncho. I'm thinking I'll be lovely!! Don't shatter my dream!

forehead · 13/09/2013 21:26

I wear ponchos with fitted jeans or trousers. I love them

Mosschops30 · 13/09/2013 21:27

Oh well that's quite positive. Think I will get it then Grin
Will try and link

I love my poncho

gloucestergirl · 13/09/2013 21:30

I have two. Looking forward to the autumn when they go over a leather jacket, skinny jeans, biker boots with cool sunglasses. Wait...that's not me, but a very cool girl in stockholm I have been trying to emulate for the past 2 years.

suntodayplease · 13/09/2013 21:34

Hope not, planning on using mine to cover post baby tummy over the winter and a useful means of bf'ing out and about without getting cold. Ordered one today in fact!

3hens · 13/09/2013 21:39

Linky suntodayplease please?

Ujjayi · 13/09/2013 21:52

I have two - one from Monsoon which is a traditional style, ie triangular with no collar; and one from Fat Face which is more jumper-like with a cowl neck.

The monsoon one looks best over slim fitting clothes. I wear it over long sleeve tees or fine knits and if it is cool I wear a scarf with it too. Also looks good over a neat fitting jacket.

The jumper-like one I have never worn over a jacket. Not sure it would work.

And absolutely yes to large sunglasses & a messy updo.

wrigglebum · 13/09/2013 22:03

I would really like one. In my head I would look effortlessly stylish, in reality I would probably look crap.

Mosschops30 · 13/09/2013 22:11

here

looks dreadful in pic but in reality it looks lovely on

www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/coats/hand-made-wool-cape-c269183p1293035.html I love this grey one.

Phaedra11 · 14/09/2013 04:12

Gray but also patchwork.

Annianni · 14/09/2013 07:41

I got a grey merino one from Banana Republic.
I can't wait to wear it.

RustyBear · 14/09/2013 07:49

You could always make your own!
Your DH/DP might like one too...
Grin

Phaedra11 · 14/09/2013 08:50

I can spell grey really...it was 4 am.

MrsCampbellBlack · 14/09/2013 08:51

I have two, both from the white company. I wear the navy one which unbuttons all down the front a lot - they are perfect for autumn.
