I need a Barbour...

My ancient ( bought for me in 1986..got my money's worth) Barbour Gamefair has finally met its maker and I need a new one. My old one was long enough to just about pull under my bottom if I sat on a damp bench, but looking on line most of the women's jackets seem short.

Can anyone recommend a style? Back in my day they were unisex and there weren't many, so I'm confused!! I also need one I can buy a hood for as it really is for being out in vile weather!

The only one I like (wearing dd but buying my own next week) is the bedale (unisex). I'm not keen on the women's ones, I prefer the unisex.

They come up small :-)

Ah cheers:) I think the Bedale is proba ly the way to go for me too. Also I can't be doing with flowery print linings.. it's a waxed coat! I guess I am going to have to actually try one on as my old one was generous for size.

Funnily enough,I was looking in JL at the barbours yesterday and thought the same thing.I have a bedale from around 1988! and it's looking a bit tatty now,but I wasn't sure what too replace it with.Im not keen on the glitztier ones and came to the conclusion it would have too be another bedale.(when I can afford it!my parents bought me the last one for riding etc)

if you go to their website, they have several different ranges. I think the one you want to look at is the classic range (something like that). That's where all the non fashion ones are. They do still make them. The sizing is as it used to be too - doesn't come up small. Most places now sell the fashion/vintage/shrunken ones, so online research is the way to go!

I don't know if they have changed the finish or something but I find mine leaks horribly at the elbows Sad

I don't know any coat that is guaranteed waterproof, if anyone does then shout! Lengthwise I'm finding my Didriksons Taylor absolutely perfect (has not yet been tested in proper rain as I had trouble doing up the zip) Blush
