Is it just me? Do I have amazingly long finger nails or toe nails that stick up in the air? Why can't I make a pair of 20 denier tights last longer than one wear?

Not just you, I can't even make 40 denier tights last more than a few. Crossing my legs under tables with rough undersides are what usually does for them!

sadsong · 13/09/2013 17:12

Oh that's rubbish! But it's tights season and my legs look revolting better covered up! M&s are so expensive but everything else ends up like Nora Batty Confused

I bought M&S merino tights last year which were great. They lasted the entire winter with handwashing & didn't bobble.

WhoNickedMyName · 13/09/2013 17:34

Wolford tights are very pricey but really good.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 13/09/2013 19:48

Just bought two pairs of Falke cotton touch on rec. from here and they are lovely - and I hate tights.

But I have a hole already. I've repaired it cos they were 20 quid.

If it needs to be said, avoid As

Asda Blush

MadBusLady · 13/09/2013 19:59

I have 40den opaques opaques from John Lewis that are about five years old. Even if they get a small hole somewhere it doesn't seem to grow. Don't know exact packaging/price, sorry, but they are just their own brand opaques.

May be controversial but I buy Accessorize and Pretty Polly nude fishnets by the fistful. I've never really moved on from 2004 in that respect Smile. They give much better grip than normal slippy tights in a shoe, they're surprising weather-adaptable (breeze on the fanjo but somehow trap a bit of warm air around your legs too) and they don't snag as easily.

Umlauf · 13/09/2013 20:00

Is there a Calzedonia in the UK? They do the best I've come across for reasonable price.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 13/09/2013 20:03

Sadsong I will be wearing them until I'm 80 Wink

sadsong · 13/09/2013 20:05

Ooooo I must try the breezy fanjo tights! They sound amazing!

MadBusLady · 13/09/2013 20:08

These. They are one size only things, but fit me fine and I'm a 12/14 on the bottom. They don't do much holding-in of the tummy though, I wear them on thin days!

sadsong · 13/09/2013 20:52

Mad bus that link is a pretty top,but I can't see her tights!

amouseinawindmill · 13/09/2013 20:56

Picking up DS when he has his shoes on ladders all mine; cursed Velcro shoe fastenings.

CMOTDibbler · 13/09/2013 21:02

Micronets are the way to go for sheer looking tights. I am death of tights but they are brilliant and don't grate on the foot like fishnets can

OverAndAbove · 13/09/2013 21:18

Autograph at M and S is a good mid priced range; they are fairly robust and a good choice of colours/coverage. Their velvet opaques are fab!

MadBusLady · 13/09/2013 22:03

Ooh I don't know what happened there. I don't think they have a pic of the nude ones. Trying again in black.

sadsong · 13/09/2013 22:12

I feel like a tights virgin! I didn't know you could get fish nets in nude! Now do they make legs look like treetrunks??

OP posts:
Kezztrel · 13/09/2013 22:26

I saw a woman in nude fishnets from across the road the other day, except I didn't realise they were tights until I got closer - I thought she had some kind of skin disease!

CMOTDibbler · 14/09/2013 08:29

Full fishnets are v different from micronet though Kezztrel - you can't tell from less than a metre.

IMO very flattering to the leg

Kezztrel · 14/09/2013 09:45

These were quite open weave ones she was wearing, so they looked like scales...

mrsharrystyles · 14/09/2013 10:44

Ok, so what's the matter with Asda opaque tights? I've just bought a pair of 80 denier. Waste of money?

sadsong · 15/09/2013 08:49

I'm going to have a good old tights but up today!
