where can I find nice chunky socks for autumn/winter?

I had some lovely woollen ones with wooden buttons at the top a few years ago and I'm after something similar but can't remember where they came from and not sure where to start.

Any suggestions?

My mum bought some from Ness last winter, they're really cute and cosy. The website doesn't say what they're made of which is worrying, but pretty sure my mum's had a very high wool content. Or if you want to splash out, Brora cashmere ones are lovely...

John Lewis do really nice wooly ones - the italian jobbies. Feel gorgeous on. I think sometimes when they feel a bit scratchy to the hand, they actually feel lovely on your feet. dunno why.
