Winter warm and waterproof coat..

Ok so winter is just round the corner, rainy days are here and the football season has started. Can you help me? I'm yet again searching for a waterproof, warm but not bulky coat, below bum length, that will keep me dry and also warm whilst standing on the football sidelines. Last year I ordered the Merrell that was so many times recommended but unfortunately didn't fit me as I'm short but not too petite as I'm a size 12. SO anyway the search starts again. Any recommendations? Budget is £120 - £150 max!

I have this one

I wore it last winter in the rain and if really cold wore a fleece under. Found it warm and completly waterproof

There is a great thread from last year which spans several winters called something like 'bum covering warm and waterproof coat'. Hopefully someone will link to it as it has all you need to know.

Thanks haveanotherbiscuit, that one is actually on my list so good to get a thumbs up for that one. Rubylovesshopping will search that thread out.

This is another one I'm considering www.zalando.co.uk/icepeak-lumina-outdoor-jacket-black-ic141b07j-802.html

I bought a didriksons last year on the recommendation of mumsnetters and its brilliant! Might be slightly over budget depending on which one you go for. They come up big but you might need to try a few as I found some of the sleeves very long although I am 4'11"!

Happybell · 11/09/2013 21:41

Clarence80 thanks! Didrikson is also one I'm looking at! Which one did you go for. Sleeve length is always a problem for us shorties. I spend a small fortune on postage last year trying out different coats and returning them. Any Didrikson stockists in the uk?

Hi Happybell - I've been searching high and low for a winter coat and ordered a Didriksons - I'm 5'9 and the sleeves were long on me, so don't know how you would find them.
I ordered from here if you want to try one - they were really helpful and the prices good.
Otherwise, I looked at the north face sumiko - sleeves were too short for me, the north face Brooklyn is nice and the north face arctic parka.
It's been a mission - good luck!

Am having the exact same dilemma, except I am very tall. Does anyone have any recommendations? I absolutely love the coat from Seasalt, unfortunately it's a wee bit above my budget. Should I just but it anyway as an investment purchase?

ViviDeBeauvoir · 11/09/2013 22:04

If you're v tall queenofdrama I would recommend the Didriksons ones - they're long, snug and have long arms too! And the shape is flattering.

What do people think of the uniqlo coats?

notjustamummythankyou · 28/10/2013 19:11

Just a bit of bump on this thread (which I came across through google when I was searching in desperation!).

I'm another on the hunt for a long waterproof coat preferably with a hood. I've just ordered Seasalt's original raincoat in cream. I really like the fit, but it's quite light coloured (not as light as the photo though), and I can't work out whether I look like I'm wearing a lab coat. Or, even worse, a member of the Klu Klux Klan when I've got the hood up.

Not sure if I'm keeping it even though it's a bargain, as it might not be warm enough anyway come up the winter. I've been looking at the uniqlo quilted coats too - any good? Too shiny?? Or just bleaaagh?

So, onwards. I need something that looks OK over my work clothes as well as with jeans. Budget around £100. Help me! Smile
