On Saturday DP and I have a rare child free day. We are going to Cambridge to do clothes shopping for me as a birthday present. Clothes shopping always goes the same way with me coming home empty handed and depressed.

I never wear trousers or jeans, always dresses and skirts. Think sort of dark colours, not too patterned, light materials, fitted to the waist then going out a bit and always knee length. Skirts same style again dark colours. Everything in the shops ATM is either very short or very clingy or neon colours etc. I want comfy stylish and the right length. I'm a recovering goth so can't cope with pale colours at all!

So any suggestions for shops that have anything vaguely like this or suggestions would be great. Apricot used to be quite good but there isn't a store in Cambridge that I'm aware of.

Cos, monsoon, east, jigsaw are a few I can think of. Maybe check them out online first to get a feel of the styles they offer. Have fun shopping, I'm v.jealous as I haven't had a child free trip in months!

Thank you, shall have a look online. I can't quite believe one of the DCs won't be ill on the day or break a limb and we will have to cancel tbh! It'll be my first child free day in 2.5 years so very excited!

Also Phase Eight sounds like it would have dresses / skirts right up your street. Enjoy your trip!

Jealous Envy. However, I too find shopping stressful and I often come home empty handed and depressed or with a load of crap Have you considered enlisting the help of a professional shopped? Department stores often have free ones but you may need to book. Good luck and I really hope you have a lovely time!

Have a look at phase eight on line, some of there dresses and skirts maybe appropriate they also have some lovely dark tops in!

Might be worth looking in next as well

I think you'd like mid length skater skirts and trumpet skirts

Lucky thing!

I like whitestuff and fatface for casual skirts/dresses, quality can be a bit hit and miss, also monsoon, jigsaw, hobbs
